Should I Call Neuro???
The last couple of days I've been feeling like I did almost a year ago before I became paralyzed on my left side...from fingers to toes.
But when I talk to the neuro when I was not that bad yet, he had me take a round of prednizone. It seemed like it was helping some while taking the pills, but then a few days after, I went downhill really fast. So I went in to have the sterois IVs. Then lots of PT, ETC. So, beings that I really don't want to take anymore steroids than I have to... and I'm not paralyzed... I'm not sure if I should call. I really don't want a repeat of last time. And I'm probably worrying about nothing... OH, YAH, THAT THEORY HASN'T PROVEN TO WORK SINCE I DON'T SEEM TO BE IN CHARGE OF MY BRAIN.:( I'm not sure what other alternatives there are to help me other than steroids. Should I call or just wait it out??? Thanks:hug: |
You could call him and inform him that you're not feeling all that great, but that you're not really interested in getting anymore steroids, but that you just wanted to keep him updated in what's going on.
They dont require that you take steroids for a flare, they can suggest it, but it is your body, and if you dont want the steroids doing all sorts of wacky stuff to you and just want to ride out the flare, that's your choice. But, calling him and giving him an update never hurts. At least he'll have it documented then. |
Erin,
Thank you for the advice. It makes sense. Especially since I can't sleep, because I can't even stay in bed. The sheets feel like pins and needles. Things are just getting worse by the minute. Why oh why do we have this? :(
I don't like feeling this negative, when I know how much worse it could be. But it just doesn't take away from what hurts right now. |
I agree with Erin. Call to let them know what's going on, but if you don't think the meds will help at this time - stand by your gut. Hope you feel better soon.:hug:

Yes, definitely call.. I constantly second myself :). I know it's because I just don't want to have to deal the issue or go on the 'roids again.
|
Agreed, always call in at the very least. That way, they know what is happening and will decide what treatment or guidance to give you. This disease has a mind of its own and letting an exacerbation have its way with you can lead to extremely long periods of down time.
In my case, I will always go for the steroids because I've had patches of many months for one exacerbation. I don't have time for that junk! |
I agree with AMN. You don't want to mess with a long exacerbation, if you can shorten it with IV roids.
|
i agree too.
i hope you were able to reach your dr. please keep us posted. |
Did you make that call, Friend? What's the word, hummingbird?
|
Well, I finally got some sleep...all day... so I missed my chance to call the dr. But think I will do just that tomorrow.
Thanks a bunch! |
