Do you want to keep the Social Chat subforum?

Since some members seem to want to go back to a single forum here for SOS (and not divide up social chat with the more serious talk about suicide), I'm putting it up for a member vote.

Please vote in the poll, thank you.

OMG another poll! Thanks Doc.

I didn't vote yet because I have a question. Don't we have a site wide social chat already? The MS group has a subforum for social chat called the Stumble Inn. Why not just re-name the SOS subforum something everyone likes and keep it so members can post to those who belong to the SOS forum?

Sometimes I post on the site wide social chat for things I want or think everyone should see. But sometimes I like to just post on the MS subforum for good news and casual stuff related to Jim and I that may relate only to those with ms.

Hope that made sense.

been there done that:o

LOL Chemar. Yes, we've been there and done that. Maybe Ms. Sandy can come up with a name!

I don't care either way. People get upset with both ways so...

I think the reason the sub-forum started was because someone (maybe multiple people?) were offended by joking and light-heartedness in this place. I really tire of people becoming offended by the smallest of things, so I've felt comfortable posting 'upstairs'.

But really, I don't care. Whatever everyone else wants...so I don't know how to vote. :o I think we should just do whatever, get over it, and get on with it!

EDITED TO SAY!!!!....of course this is not directed at any friends, anyone in particular! I just know it's been on a lot of people's minds and the sad thing is we can't make all of us 100% happy.

I've been a member of this forum and the one before it... for forever! and since we "divided", I have lost track of friends because I don't visit the other forum.

This forum needs lightheartedness... I need to see that no matter what they are going through, my friends are holding their heads above water... and I would prefer that they be able to share their ups as well as their downs in one place.

What might have worked for one forum won't always work for another.

I'm sorry that we have to vote again... but that said, I vote in support of one forum only.

We don't just talk suicide here... we talk support... we talk survival.

We talk about balancing our lives and how we cope with the good is just as important as the bad.

Doc John - thanks for this!

I may not always participate in ether forum on a regular basis but I do like to visit and just sit back and be with those who get it when the need arises. Sometimes we need to laugh and joke and that may offend others who may be "fresh" with their feelings about suicide and not ready for that leap.

Sometimes when your looking for support and one has to weed through a ton of threads to get to that one they need, time has been lost. At least with two forums, one will know which is the more serious and which is the more whimsical and can make an informed decision on which one to visit that day.

I know for me, sometimes hearing about ms and all the bad stuff constantly can get to me so the Stumble Inn is my place to be most days. I live with it daily and so does Jim, 21 years now. We're not new and some members who are may need to get their information and support quicker. They also may not find our humor amusing when they have just been diagnosed or experiencing something major.

I feel the same about the SOS forum but can handle whatever way you choose to "fix' it. I don't know a good name but I am sure Doc John will put another poll up after this one if it's voted to keep two. :p

Just my two sense. :D
