Boom

Well, I got my eye scan thing done today! That was pretty neat while they were doing it, and it showed that my hole in my vision isn't due to vascular problems or any retina or corneal issues - my eye looks great. So OF COURSE, he's saying he thinks possibly MS - joining the chorus of other docs who are wrong, I'm sure (HE HE).

Bad thing - I went boom really bad today after this scan and I really don't know why! So frustrating. The numbes my eye with drops, dialated them bigger than I've ever seen eyes dialate - I looked like an alien when I took off my sun glasses - then injected a vegetable based dye and took some pictures with some really bright lights flashing in my eyes.

The only thing I noticed was a "funny" feeling after the drops to numb and dialiate. But I got progressively weaker and left work after just 2 hours. I haven't got a clue on this one, but sure hope it passes overnight. When I got home I slept HARD for about 4 hrs. I woke up still weak so I took a Mestinon and it has helped, but I still don't understand what did me in. Anyone else have a reaction like this to numbing and dialating drops?

Sign me very confused and frustrated!

Becky, The drops they use to dilate eyes contain Atropine. It's the "opposite" of Mestinon. I get really bad after I have them too. So you are not crazy, you just didn't know that those drops can make MG worse. Obviously your doctors didn't know that either.

Thank you so much Annie. I knew it had to have something to do with one of the drops! I felt it shortly after, but it just kept getting worse and worse! My husband thought it was nerves over seeing a doctor and forbids me to see anymore (HA HA). I wasn't at all nervous about this appointment though.

Good to hear from you again. Hope you're doing well! Talk to you more soon I hope.

Hi Becky,

I've had it happen on two occasions and didn't mention it to the doctor either time, but I'm going to when I see her in July. The fact she's a neuro ophthalmologist and I'm there because of the MG, you would think she would have informed me this could happen. I did feel better by the end of the day. Glad to hear your scan went so well otherwise. Take care.

Hugs,
Pat
