Hi -- I know you had lots of great information -

Hi, I know you had lots of great information on the old forum. I remember that one of your really nice members gave me some information on one of the old threads... and it was thought provoking and useful.

Okay, so here's a thought if you are wanting to get all that useful information to bring here...

Yesterday I posted asking about something that had been given me at the old forum and that I lost when my old computer died.

ScratchW was so nice... and went and googled the words I'd thought were a part of the information, and she used + braintalk and she got the exact thread that I had first gotten the information from...

I didn't know about the + braintalk thing.

And it took me awhile to learn how to get the cached page because I hadn't done that before, so when I just clicked on the link and got a blank page, I thought it was because I'd been banned. The banning thing was a real pain because it affected ones thinking in such a bad way, and when you're sick and have some brain damage that already makes doing things hard, it was just a super pain because it made things all seem that much more out of reach. But, that's past now. :)

Anyway, you have to go to the bottom of the google listing, and there it says, "cached" if you click on that you get the whole thread. No pictures, no signatures, and no "banned" by the contributers name. Happiness!!!!!!

Check it out. It may be helpful to you.

(I think it was jcc who gave me that info.... from Wisconisn???? )

Thanks Karen,

I have also found that if you know the Title you can bring up all the pages by googling "title" page(put in number) + braintalk.

An example would my the Cholecalciferol thread I started on the old BT. I can get the first page with "cholecalciferol + braintalk" and the second page by googling "cholecalciferol page 2 + braintalk" and so on.

Oh, that's pretty neat. I tried it by copying cholecalciferol + braintalk into my google search bar. Nifty.

I like your picture. I didn't realize that so many people used their pictures for their avatar until I went to the CareCure forum at Rutgers.

Love your pic!

Okay, back to the cached page... it only gives one page, though... right. You can't get the little numbers at the bottom to work, right?

but if you remembered something from a subsequent page... I wonder if google pulls that up, or just the first pages of things...

You can get all the other pages. All you have to do is put the "page" and number you want after the title. The trick is that you have to know the title of the thread.

What I cannot find is a way to get internal links to work. I can bring up the old recipe page http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache...s&ct=clnk&cd=1 but I cannot figure out how to look at the actual recipes.

Hey Al, you are the super googler - is there a way to get into the links?

Did I just dream answering this?? I thought I had.

You won't be able to directly click the link - as it will take you to BT. As we know BT is um....still down... All you can hope for is to get a hit while googling with the description that is listed on this page. I've tried a couple, but no such luck. I'd need to poke at it some more.
