Hello my name is Richard too young to have these problems and live in north carolina. i joined because i oohave read posts and replies and thought someone somewhere going through similar problem. Well it started in middle school with severe migraines last up to week at a time. This was a ongoinging issue up to last year middle school. I was very atheltic growing up before all this and didn't think something like this could happen to me. But Since then i was hit from behind at a dead stop at 55 at a stoplight. I know for sure accident tore two dicsc but why migraines? And every since then somedays it feels like hell. I have every test done that i know of and cant find the reason for migraines. Any suggesstions?

Welcome!

Hi Richard!:Wave-Hello:

I am glad you have found the NT forums.:D
I see you have posted on the headache forum! Great!
I've had life-long migraines, so I can feel your pain!

Generally speaking, if testing (scans, EEGs and all) do not give a clear reason for the cause of headache, the causes tend to be rather multi-factorial. By this, I mean, several factors may come together, at the same time, triggering migraine. There may/may not be a migraine history in your family. You may be exposed to environmental toxins and/or some types of foods that tend to trigger migraine. For some people, time spent on video games triggers migraines. There are so many triggers for migraine activity!

I'd suggest you continue inquiring in the headache forum, in the chronic pain forum, etc. Some days, the forums are a little slow, as people are busy on weekends (and during the week) and people tend to take vacations in the summer months, etc. However, I do feel the forums here, associated with neurological issues, are truly outstanding! I hope you can be patient with any slower forum just now. I think it will be well worth your while!

Feel free to just jump in on any forum! You may find others of interest to you while exploring this site!:D

Again, welcome to the NeuroTalk forums!:grouphug:

Welcome to our community.

Dejavu is explaining what I know about migraine headaches. I have no family history. In Oct 2000 I was rear-ended too. Migraines didn't start for a while. Maybe a year or so. I had bad, bad headaches and I was light and sound sensitive right after the accident. But I think I was in severe irretractable pain 24/7. Then the migraines came like a freight train. That got my attention. Stayed in a dark room for hours or days/nights for several years. If I would push it when I had migraines, I would throw up. Now that didn't give me relief. It was just an indication of the overkill pain I was in. I had neck and back and TOS and some more things. So when I'd push those too far (usually daily), then the migraines would come slamming in on me. I've had much improvement over the years and my migraine situation has discipated... Thank God.

I know concrete and steps would guarantee my pain scale to go off the richeter scale and then the debilating migraines would take over. I've never suffered a standalone migraine. I never had migraines before the Oct 2000 accident. I can just get a hint one might be coming my way and I retreat immediately and lay quiet for a while.

I hope you find answers and get relief soon.

Hello Richard, and welcome to NeuroTalk! We're so glad you found us! :)

I can sympathize with you. I had migraines for two years due to a medication that I was taking. The pain was excruciating. I hope you find relief.

Sorry for the quotes: But thought I would add to Richard and both
Dejavu and Broken Wings.

That there is also a need to check out and into PCS and TBI. Reason being
that when you are in a accident and have a head injury. You then need
to consider these things. I have not exactly had the kind of car accidents
you have. But have had some injuries to my head in different ways.

And have TBI or PCS and migraines that are normal.

I also need to note that my middle son Devin, has had migraines since middle
school too. His were so severe in the middle and high school times. That
he would miss up to two or three weeks at a time. He would catch up and
then it would happen all over.

He ended up dropping out and going back to school later. He turned out to black out driving down the road. Luckily because of seizures running in the
family his neuro put him on depakote. And it stopped them, and the migraines. Pretty much. He still has a few, but just not many.

He went back and finished high school, but the bright sun and the school
triggered migraines so he did it home bound.

But that is what he had to do. Now he is in college.

Hey Donna!

What great information/insight to offer!:D Very important considerations!
I hope we can get this info into the headache forum, for others to read, if it is not already there?
I am glad your son has done well, Donna!
