I was depressed throughout college and conistently received counseling free of charge from my psych professors. for some reason, family work ethic probably, this did not interfere with good grades through stringent application, but I didn't have to work, and I think this would have made a big difference. I didn't have many interests, but my psychology major was one of them. After class I studied for roughly 8 hours, primarily by recopying all the days notes. I then made sure that I went to the college hangout across the street every night for an evening of fun and laughter. The last summer of school, I walked long distances on a daily basis, after classes. I think this balance is what saw me through. And this would not have been possible without the financial support of my parents. It's true that I was not able to go on to post graduate work, so that, in a sense I did drop out and failed to get the education I needed for my desired field. But thanks to my parents, a family work ethic, free counseling by my profs, tricyclic antidepressants and balance of work and play, I made it to my BS Summa cum laude, before "dropping out." Thanks for your forum and chat. Information here is invaluable, and this is the first interest I have found in more than a year! Gratefully - billie
