What's on your plate...

I had a sweet pm from Doxie who said I could share part of it..

"Have been battling decline in neurological function, fighting off recurring sinus infection and increased fatigue and pain. On top of this, my mom-94-has to have the rest of her teeth removed-I think she has 9 left, so I have to make sure that the nursing home is monitoring the increase in Ativan it will take to have her calm enough for the dentist to remove them. I am her power of attorney and the only one that lives close to her (all the others are out of town and don't see her very often)."

And she went on to send hugs to all of you...

On the drive home from lunch in Three Oaks we got a call that our dear friend (the Judge) had died this morning. He was a lovely, ornery old man and we'll miss him. I have posted here before about his generosity and of course about the **** soup! :(

Also, thanks to several of you left me the address I lost and told me about the "spongeman".... How could anyone do that!!!

Thanks for catching us up on Doxie ... her plate certainly IS full... to her!

Alffe - I'm sorry to hear about your friend the Judge :(

Well, I have already "walked the bridges" here in Trail... would you like to see where I went?
Click on the images below :)

I walked over one bridge, had lunch with my 84 yr old mom then walked to the post office, then back over the other bridge - this is the Columbia River, by the way ... flows through British Columbia then goes all the way down through Washinton state then pours out into the Pacific Ocean.

Now I'm doing some at home work then its off to the Library Board meeting....

And maybe I'll need a stiff drink after that ;)

You certainly live in a beautiful part of the world Addy. How was the meeting...how was the drink? :D

I'm thrilled to say it's rainning cats and dogs!

I was so sorry to read that a friend of your's had passed on Alffe. Please accept my condolences.

And Addy, those photos are so lovely! Thank you so much for sharing. :)

Addy 07-11-2009 12:36 PM

Isn't it fun to share photos of where we live... I love seeing those that others post :)

Alffe... instead of a drink I had an oreo icecream blizzard from Dairy Queen (do you have DQ's in the US?)... I think is :icecream:probably the more healthy choice ... ;) ... altho... isn't food as addictive as alcohol ... lol :D

Now I'll go to the next "What's on your Plate" for Saturday thread and continue with my library saga....

Addy 07-11-2009 12:43 PM

 OH Duh... just realized that it wasn't a "saturday" plate thread... it was a WONDER thread!

OK... so it looks like I might be part of a bit of "shake/rattle and roll" here in this small town of 8000 peeps.

9 out of 13 Library Staff is going to be laid off (I'm one of them - but since I am a very casual worker this thankfully will not make a big effect on my income - I actually looked at the wages I earned there as a bonus every few weeks...) and the Library Board is going to close the library 3 days a week over the weekend..... !!!

Our media blitz campaign will likely start next week... imagine having a libary board that isn't sticking up for the library... the public should be outraged!

sssssssoooooooooooo... to be perfectly honest, I am not prepared to burn up any personal anger or unhealthy energy on this "campaign"... so it will be interesting to see how it transpires....

So... today... saturday... its almost 11 am and I'm on my 2nd coffee, not dressed and see my green grass begging to be mowed... ebay listings to gather together and dishes to do..... oh blah, how boring... perhaps a walk down to the river should be in order....

what are YOU doing? what's on YOUR plate?

Alffe 07-11-2009 01:11 PM

We are so enjoying the new branch library that opened just down the street from us.
Addy, would something like this benefit your libraries?

And yes..we have DQ although I try to avoid them. *grin

record breaking heat is on my plate.... my daughter wants to go get her ears repeirced today. she let the holes grow closed. they called me and asked me to work the front desk from 4-midnight, but for a change i said no. i just dont feel like working tonight..... although we could use the money right now. BUT i'm going with my first instincts and saying no. LOL

Oh I love the idea of this........http://www.streetpianos.com/london2009/

Addy 07-12-2009 11:33 AM

That library fundraising site is definitely a worthwhile endeavour... I think I'll gather up more of that type of info Alffe - thanks for giving me a brilliant idea!~!

The piano playing in London trip.. what an awesome idea! and what fun if you were to follow the whole map and see someone playing at every piano!

Goofy dear.. when my boys were still at home there were many MANY times that I turned down extra shifts "even tho I needed the money".... some of those times the boys would be out all evening but just knowing I was there for them was worth ever "lost" cent!!! Life is about balance ... and you took the right step to balance your day! bravo! :winner_first_h4h: you get the Mom award today!

Today is Sunday... and I see clouds rolling in bringing some weather adventure with them I'm sure!

More of yesterday on my plate... and that's ok :)
