Happy 40TH Anniversary America..."The Eagle Has Landed"

I got married the same year, so happy anniversary to me, too..:D

40 years! Already!?! Sheesh, I remember all us kids in a clump on the family room floor fully prepared for the big event with our Tang and Space Food Sticks.

I remember Cronkite looking like he would cry or pass out or something; meanwhile, I stared at the TV and wondered why this was all such a big deal. I took a gulp of Tang and went back to my Etch-a-Sketch.

Once I thought Tang delicious and it was a sometime treat but usually (uck) it was real OJ.

Well, it was a big deal! I was waiting for em' to be sucked into the crust of the moon. Come on....I was a kid.

I pulled my old newspapers out - 7/21/69 (Land on moon) and 7/25/69 (splashdown).

The Monday paper (7/21) wasn't too bad. The Friday paper (7/25)... I still remember being extremely mad. 138 pages! The size of a Sunday paper! I had 77 dailies to deliver that day! I couldn't get but 20 papers into my bag at one time.

Cleveland Plain Dealer. Sheesh. New 1969 Pontiac GTO. $3200!

I took the papers to the morning meeting this morning. The mission control Ground Controller supervisor also had a Cleveland Plain Dealer paper route.

I put the papers in the historical mission control room on one of the consoles so people on the houston space center tour can see them from the viewing room.

I too, remember our trusted Walter Cronkite reporting about the moonwalk. Who can we trust NOW???

I was probably getting a diaper change or was being fed during the moon landing. (I was born in May of 1969)
