Shuttle and Space station flyovers
For the last few nights we have been going out and watching the space station fly over. It only lasts for a few minutes, but it is so neat!
Tonight I was at my nephews send off to the army party, and told everyone about the fly over. The host brought out 3 pair of binoculars! Oh man that made it sooo much better!!! Thought I would share this with everyone so we all could get in on this. there arent to many more days this month that we can see it, but next month there are more opportunities. If you get a chance get out there and check it out, and also tell everyone because it is really cool Here is the link to find the time to see it in your area http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata...=United+States Plus there is something cool coming up they are going to do on the moon that we will be able to see with the naked eye that I will post the date here in the next few days. Enjoy the shuttle/Space station :winky: |
I guess I was wrong there will be more after august with only a couple more here in july. :(

This is the info on what they are going to do on the moon. This is really gonna be something!! I was told you might be able to see it with your eyes, but it says with a small telescope, but for sure look on the internet or news because this is going to be real neat! I actually think if you have some good binoculars you might be able to see this if it is a full moon.

A couple of years ago I was viewing a group of stars with my binoculars when one of the stars vanished right before my eyes. It actually looked like it exploded very very quickly. It swelled slightly then poof, gone. At the time I couldn't believe I saw what I saw. The only thing I think it could have been is a meteor entering the earth's atmosphere at the same angle I was viewing it, giving the impression of a stationary object, then burned out. |
Thanks Allen!
Hi Allen. How are you? I do hope you are doing well.
Thanks for the information. I printed our scheduled viewing times and will make an effort to see it! Thanks for the interesting information. I have been keeping away from the negative news, but this is something I really would like to see and almost missed. Thanks again Di |
Hi Jimking, I saw something like that once, but it didnt disappear quite like that. It was the first star in the sky we noticed and we were watching the sky for about 20 minutes or so, when all of a sudden this star that was just sitting there not moving began to move in a zig zag pattern.
It made about 7 zig zags, and then it just faded away. It was real weird. It looked just like a bright star the entire time too. We never came up with an explaination for that lol. What you saw sounds pretty neat!!! Maybe a UFO! Hi Di! How are ya doin? I am doing fairly well, the pain is all over the body, but like you I am choosing to focus on things that are positive. I try not to complain, try to stay up beat. After years I realized there isnt much I can do about the pain, so why not try to enjoy myself to the fullest that I possibly can. If you have some binoculars it looks pretty awesome, but if you dont it is ok because it is still neat! If I come across anymore interesting things that doesnt really take any physical activity besides using our brains, imaginations, and maybe some optics if we have them. I will post them up  |

The strangest things I've seen in the sky was in 1968, on a clear night very large billows of colored clouds floated over our neighborhood. The clouds glowed and where fluorescent in color. Very bright yellows reds and blues. It was a site to see. I was 11 at the time and it was said on the local news here in Washington that is was a atmospheric test performed by NASA. Back in the late 70s a group of us observed a single fixed star that had 4 dimmer stars rotating slowly around it. We watched this for at least 20 minutes only to see each dimmer star slowly disappear. Very strange and they looked to be very far out not in or near our atmosphere and the light these things gave out were steady not flickering like an aircraft. In the late 90s several of us where in the mountains of West Virginia at a friends cabin it was a clear night, my wife and I were sitting near a camp fire around 11pm. Several guests were going to bed in the house when my wife spotted a light down in the dark valley at the horizon. This light was round, moved very quickly. It seemed to dart from one spot to another spot at incredible speeds, nothing like I've ever seen before. Hot damn we've spotted a UFO, both of us stood there speechless. Look at the speed of that thing I yelled and told my wife Suzy to run and wake everyone up and get out here before this thing speeds off! Everyone poured out of the house only to see the full moon! :D It turns out it was an optical illusion. What it was was a low lying mass of dense clouds down on the horizon blocking the full moon so much so you saw no glow from it. When a small break in the cloud opened it let a bright light shine thru then cover then reopen at another area of the cloud giving the illusion it was a object flying about and it was very convincing until the cloud moved away revealing the moon. Everyone was disappointed. :) |
Time to bust out the binoculars and telescopes and go out and see the shuttle and space station one last time :winky:
