Mestonin brand versus generic?
Hi all.,
I will be going to my new neurologist that I have been waiting months for in the next couple of weeks. My GP suggests that I tell him the mestinon worked on my eyes and the side effects I had was while taking a generic form of it., he said that sometimes it is worth your while to try the brand especially since it worked., and the prednisone gave such terrible side effects so I am not taking anything right now. Has any one else found this to be true with the brand of mestinon and the generic? Thanks |
Not sure of the answer here as I don't take any of the meds because I react to severely from them. I hope someone here can answer this for you. :winky:

Sorry I have not taken generic before, hope you can get some help with this ! Mary |
i've only had the generic. works very well for me. cost is a factor so as long as the generic works i'm happy.

I started on the generic and have had no trouble (but can't compare as I never had the brand named Mestinon). My neuro always tries the generic first since it is significantly less expensive -- but there are some folks who don't respond to it well and have to go to Mestinon brand. Apparently, the concentrations in the 'brand' are believed to be more consistent than in the generic. Hope this helps...

Hi Whirlwind!
Hey there! THey have a GENERIC mestinon now? I'm going to have to look into that! That would be GREAT!:D
I am now on generic Cellcept and my neuro doesn't let me take any chances, so my bet is that they are both just fine! Are you feeling any better? Can't wait to hear from you! Love, Erin:D |
