Hi sheila, it is because the nerves are damaged and they are sending confused signals to the brain, then of course it can't read them properly given back the wrong sensations, 5 minutes seems far to short of a visit, my neuro spent at least 30 minutes + plus on each visit, is your neuro a neuropathy expert or just a normal neuro ? it can make a huge differance.

good luck

I'm with Brian...5 minutes is not enough time for him to evaulate you. Maybe it's time for a new doctor? My neuro spends a lot of time with me. Any doctor that give you no time should be replaced.

Hi. I can relate though I have seen multiple specialities and multiple opinions. Really unless they took my body apart I am diagnosticly tested out. They don't know why I have PN either. In addition though I have RSD which does make my limb feel dead cold and sends the pain very high. I think if you have not had another opinion yet you need one but also what other specialties have you seen? Have you had extensive bloodwork for things like auto immune? Hang in there

You need to see a neuro that is a PN specialist.
One in a teaching hospital neuro dept that does research,
or a facility that has a large neuro dept with experts in PN.
I go to Johns Hopkins. There are other centers like
Jack Miller, The Cornell-Weill Center, Mayo Clinic, etc, that
will do this.
Most plain neuros will take your money, and are clueless
as to proper diagnoses, treatment, & medications.
