Physical Therapy

Went to Physical Therapy today per doctors orders. They were to look at the right hip and figure out what, if anything they could do for me. Supposedly I had to go do this to keep getting the treatments the doctor is doing paid for from medicare.

I was thinking that this was going to be a big waste of time, and also going to hurt like (insert choice curse word). But was pleasantly surprised to find the guy was highly knowledgeable, and knew about RSD.

He did a thorough examination to see how flexible I am, then went for the strength tests. He was able to see which was cause by the RSD, and which is caused by the bad back. My doctor likes to lump all my problems into the bad back, and give me grief over the RSD.

So this run with the PT guy may help me with my doctor when it comes to separating all the different problems.

Once he started workin me over, I am not going to lie, it hurt like the dickins! He used deep massage first, then something like a tens unit along with heat. Then he whipped out the ultra sound unit with more massage and the heat from the ultra sound digging in real deep! Topping it all off with the cold laser to chill the muscle spasms.

The PT guy told me I am a real mess and it might take him a few more of these kinds of treatments before we can even begin to look at what kind of work outs to do. Cant wait for that

First time I have seen a pt person, and it is a real eye opener! Have read lots of stories about them from you all, boy is it different in real life LOL!!!

P.S.
Well I have gone to one once, but it wasnt what I considered one after seeing this guy LOL! The other guy just had me work out my ankle on 3 days and said he couldnt help me. He never even checked me out like this guy. No comparison!

Hi Allen,

I am glad this Physical Therapist was able to help you with answers on your back and RSD.

I have spent almost 4 years in PT off and on and I have had 4 good ones and 3 bad ones. I didn't stay long with the bad ones though.

If you get good Physical Therapist they seem to know more then Drs. in some cases. Mine was able to diagnose my RSD in my back and also my thoracic spine injury and my neck injury. The Drs. do chalk it all up to the RSD and Fibro a lot of the times or one thing instead of looking for other problems.

I hope he is able to help you with getting you moving better and feeling better.

Allen Hi,
I'm so glad you found a good physio that you like and who knows RSD, try getting him to write notes to your doctor about the individual area's of trouble each visit as they are delt with.
Cold lazer hmm.. have to do some research there, even the most knowlegable can be behind on some RSD facts.. sory I just wory for my friends ;)

PT

Hi All,

I just started pt with an RSD pt therapist. She has lots of knowledge of RSD. did lots of testing for my pt evaluation and gave me some exercises to do the first day until the next visit. Each visit I get more exercises added. Now my Pt therapist is gone for a month and it is up to me to do my exercises 2 times a day. Just with the few visits I have had in pt I do have more flexiblity. But to keep my joints from going bad or getting worse I know I am the one who must do the pt every day to help myself. Also I really like this pt therapist, because it is one on one therapy. Hope all have a very nice weekend:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: You are all great:):):):)
