Thoughts on Endep / Amitriptyline?
My doctor has recently prescribed me Amitriptyline. He actually prescribed it for chronic pain in my feet which is separate from the neuropathy (I think this may be due to damage caused by walking in an unnatual and "bizarre" manner for the past 5 and a half years - due to the constant pain and numbness. The neuropathy has responded well to supplements such as Benfotiamine, Magnesium and Calcium, etc (and of course - giving up alcohol, which was the cause of the neuropathy). As far as the neuropathy goes, all I am now left with is some mild numbness. Having read the info. on the site regarding Amitriptyline - I am wondering if this may well prove beneficial in eventually eliminating the numbness? Does it really help the nerves to heal / regenerate? I have started with 10mg at night and have been instructed to gradually increase to 25mg. I would be very interested to learn about anyone else's experiences and thoughts on this matter.

hi there
I have no idea if it will eliminate the numbness, but personally I wouldn't hold your breathe. I am on amitryp and have been for years for migraine but still have numb feet. Actually if anything my numbness is progressing. This has just been my experience - with me once something goes numb, it stays numbs. Fingers crossed you have better luck cheers raglet |
Hi, at one time I was on 150 mg at night & 25 mg in the mornings of Endep, it doesn't do anything in the repairing process but it used to help calm down the burning pretty well.
In my case the numbness took the longest to heal, even when the burning had stopped completely, the numbness took many months later to heal; it healed in a patchy fashion then eventually healed completely. Sounds like your doing all the right things so hopefully in time yours will heal in a similar manor. best of luck to you . |

Cause of your neuropathy?
Hi Brian,
Thankyou for your response - could I ask the cause of your neuropathy and how long it took to heal? Thanks, Christine. Quote:
