I am not computer savy. Have been a member for awhile but have apparently not been logging off. I get back in by hitting an icon I somehow managed to put on my desktop. I am very memory impaired. Thanks so Much! It is a blessing to be a participant in this forum. I am not at all sure that I can find this page again for your response, but I thank you anyway. You a life savers! billie:grouphug:

Thank You, Chemar! So far, things on the board have just changed [e.g. cannot use emoticons in text], but I can still communicate and navigate somewhat. I cannot use quick links. I have uninstalled the Yahoo Messanger and Yahoo search engine that were installed just before my problems began, but things remain the same, so I guess it was something that I did wrong. Someone as computer illerate as I am has no real business trying to navigate the forums. Additionally, I don't understand a lot of the terminology use. However, I just can't help myself. I love the people and the support whether or not I can contribute. Caring, Thanks and Blessings - billie

billie, I sent you a PM about a settings question, did you get it?
You should have gotten a pop up or an email notice about it.

I may be misunderstang, and if so and my response seems off-the-wall, my apology...

To return to the main index of the forums, create a bookmark (under, i.e., Favorites w/I.E. browser).

To return to this thread, to view responses, etc., you can also bookmark the thread or copy/paste the URL into, e.g., Notepad, Word, etc., and then, copy/paste the link into the browser address.

If settings seem thrown out of whack on your computer, you might try a System Restore - to a date/time when you know everything was working as you want. (Doing so won't cause a loss of recent E-mail; just make sure to have backed up any new software apps. that you might have downloaded/isntalled.)

I've got to get to a doc appointment, yet will check back later and see how things are going for you.

There is also a thread on the computer forum of ideas we have been trying - any suggestions or step by step help is appreciated. :)

I just installed Yahoo bar.... nothing changed. It came with a Java update.

You might want to download Mozilla firefox and use that instead.
It is much better than IE.

I don't understand computers much either. But this summer I tried using my hubbys work laptop...it had a 3G card and I wanted to see if it would work way out where we are on vacation and no internet connection. It defaulted to 2G and was very slow.
It also had a business firewall on it that interfered with my ability to navigate here. I couldn't access User CP, had trouble with the smilies loading and other graphics, and it was enormously SLOW.
So if you have a firewall on your computer, I'd look at it too.

It is possible you have a virus/trojan. Doing a free scan at TrendMicro may find it if it is there:
