I have been searching the internet to find out other cases of people who have been ill with something that they have been unable to prove and been misdiagnosed, told they have conversion disorder, or mentally abused by someone in the medical community.

hi lily and welcome to NeuroTalk.

i made a new thread out of your post. i was afraid it would get lost where you posted it.

i don't have an answer for you, but i'm sure you will get replies.

Hi Lily,
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to post in the mental health section too.
here's the link to it-

I should add that many of the more unusual conditions do get mis-diagnosed or even undiagnosed quite often. Especially ones that don't "show up" on any kind of visible test {like MRI, Xray, blood test, etc}

Did you get mis-diagnosed?
Did you finally get a correct diagnosis?

Hi, Lily, and welcome to NT! Jo55 is quite right about many of the more unusual conditions being frequently mis- or un-diagnosed. Read through some of the posts on the Myasthenia Gravis forum.
Even if you do not find any answers here, you will for sure get a lot of support and sympathy. Many of us have been or still are in diagnosis limbo. And that is not a very friendly place to be. It can get awfully cold and lonely there. Especially when the doctors are telling you it is all in your head, but you know very well it's not!
Hugs,

Hi Lily and welcome :)

I have also copied your post over to the General Health and Rare Disorders Forum in case someone looking in there can help

Hope you find the answers you need to help you

Hi, Lily!

I don't really understand the reason for your question. Are you personally suffering from a condition that can't seem to be diagnosed, or are your interests based on something else?

I have been living with a physical condition for nearly five years now without a diagnosis, and know several others here who are in the same predicament. If you have a condition yourself, it would help a lot if you'd post the sypmtoms and the story behind them. It might be a long shot, but you never know until you try!

Best wishes to you,

Idealist

Lily, I wrote you a long letter earlier this evening about my sister's decade of searching for a diagnosis -- what turned out to be Lupus. it was emotionally very difficult for her, as she had all the things above happen to her.

I must have clicked on Preview, then forgot to click Save. :Sigh:
