Fourth Graders Learn More about ALS
Washington fourth graders learned about ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, thanks to two visitors to Washington. Dr. Bowser, the Director of ALS Research at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, and Joseph Hrezo, who has been living with ALS since 1998, talked to the students about how ALS affects the brain and how living with ALS has impacted Mr. Hrezo's life. http://www.bpsd.org/washington/pictu...%20ALS%201.jpg Mr. Hrezo brought red wrist bands, symbolizing support for ALS research, to give to all of the fourth graders. Thank you, Mr. Hrezo! http://www.bpsd.org/washington/pictu...%20ALS%202.jpg Mr. Hrezo shows us a picture of himself and Pittsburgh Steeler James Harrison, who helps to raise money for ALS research. Mr. Hrezo works as a Turnpike Toll Collector at the New Stanton Interchange. ALS hasn't kept him off the job! http://www.bpsd.org/washington/pictu...%20ALS%208.jpg Mr. and Mrs. Dressler talk to Dr. Bowers about his research on ALS. http://www.bpsd.org/washington/pictu...6-2007/ALS.htm |
