Hello Nancy,

I'm sure if you contact Dr Robert Schwartzman in Philly PA his office would fax a copie of an article to your doctors office. If Dr. S is availiable he will talk to your doctor.

I'm a patient of Dr. S's and he has personally spoken to my doctors about my conditon (I live in OH and Dr. S is in PA).

I for one and many others on here would be happen to tell, your doctor, how it does spread full body and just how awful it can be. I have read articles that say it is rare for it to spread.
Take care,
Sherrie

Nancy.
Hello!
In addition to what Sherrie has said, have you tried the rsdsa.org website?
They may have many of the "Journal documented research articles" that you need.

Let us know?

Pete

Hi Nancy,

From the RSDSA Medical Articles Archieve page http://www.rsds.org/2/library/articl...ive/index.html and your friends at "our rsda site."

"Patterns of spread in complex regional pain syndrome, type I (reflex sympathetic dystrophy)," Maleki A, LeBel AA, Bennett GJ, Schwartzman RJ,
Pain 2000; 88, free full text at http://www.rsds.org/2/library/articl...chwartzman.pdf.

Also check out "Mirror-like spread of chronic pain," Forss et al, Neurology 2005; 65; 748-750. It's too big to post here, so send me a PM with your email address and I'll pass it on.

Finally, check out the paragraph on spread (at p. 278) in "The Natural History of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome," Robert Jay Schwartzman, M.D., et al, Clin J Pain 2009; 25: 273–280, free full text at http://www.rsds.org/2/library/articl...lexanderGM.pdf

Hope this helps,

Mike

Nancy,

Your doc is a lazy horses butt! First, he should already know about RSD spread as the podiatrists/lower extremity ortho's I worked with do. Secondly, don't let him defer to you on his work-if he needs further substantiation, tell him to go to the hospital library, run a Medline search to self educate or refer you to someone who knows what the heck to do with you (he obviously doesn't). Don't put up with that crap!

Hi Nancy and everyone,
Nancy, I just received a four page info on RSD today from the local Phoenix, AZ support group. If you would like me to mail it or fax it, just PM the information. It's from NEUROLOGY NOW MARCH/APRIL2009. It does discuss spread among other areas of RSD.
Hope this helps. Your friend, loretta
