Hi All,
How are you all doing? I have not come to the board for a while. I had moderate impact side front ended auto accident about two and a half month ago. I have had a flare of my RSD symptoms in hands, feet and calves. I also sufferred neck injury. I am not sure whether or not my RSD has gone to my neck as the symptom in my neck from this accident not only aching but with some burning sensation. About two weeks ago, my breasts get pretty tender and look more full and larger. I am not sure whether or not RSD has gone into my breasts as well. My question is how to diagnose breast and neck RSD and what are the symptoms and treatment options? i appreciate any feedback and many thanks to you all. Numb |

Numb,
Do you have a good "RSD" doc? A neurologist, or someone who is trained, or learned in this field? That's a first. I'm not so sure about breasts, since I"m a guy, *edit* Have you ruled out "TOS"? Thoracic Outlet Syndrome? That's a very painful thing, to do with the brachial plexus, neck, arms, hands, and is often accompanied with RSD, due to Auto accidents. (That's how I got mine, and Dr S in Philly told me all about it). So, while you're looking for RSD in those area's, check for Everything! Have RSD, and TOS ruled OUT! It's imho, the Only way to proceed.... PM me, if you wish. Pete RSD/tos since 83 Last edited by Koala77; 09-03-2009 at 10:11 PM. Reason: Guidelines |

Was it a whiplash type injury ?
Even the strain/impact from the seat belt or air bags can bring on neck pain or muscle spasms. The seat belt may have affected your lymph nodes and caused some swelling? in the arm pit area - lots of lymph nodes there- that cans affect the breast tissues also. Here's a sticky post from the TOS forum that is kind of a crash course in TOS and therapies- http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post388-1.html some of the therapy and anatomy info will be of help even if you don't feel TOS fits for your symptoms.

Hi,
Thank you for those who have respond and i truly appreciate your input. Mike, When i first developed my RSD in my hands, one neuro rule out TOS. However, since i don't have a regular neurologist in my local area, i should look for one. In regards to my breasts pain, it was resolved as of yesterday. It is probably related to my irregular menses as i am in the per-menoplause stage. Thanks again, Numb |
