Alright, I'm growing a little tired of this! 1/08, I had a C5-6 fusion. Went well. 4/08 arthroscopic repair of the right shoulder for everything torn except the rotator cuff. Wound up with brachial plexus damage (among other things), as well as CRPS. Seven SGB's later CRPS is better than pre-blocks but not gone certainly, but woke up with acute neck pain after 7th block that quickly lateralized to the left scapula, now down the shoulder and arm. 6 weeks later, I have a diagnosed left-sided C7 pinched nerve per MRI that is unresponsive to 2 medrol dose paks, and temporarily improved with 2 epidurals (2 to go) but my left hand/fingers in a C7 distribution are numb. Spine surgeon says if epidurals fail, it's a C6-7 fusion for me.
My question is, has anyone with one-sided upper extremity CRPS had to undergo a cervical fusion? If so, what precautions were taken to help avoid reoccurance of or spread to same or other side of CRPS? Thanks! |

I "m not quite sure about the fusions[although i am familar with them] The main thing That I would strongly advise is a continuous block,,talk with your dr[surgeon] and find a anesthesiologist who is familar with them,,preferably one with knowledge and experience with crps,,,,,,,,,,,,,,my prayers are with you,,,,,,,,,,,,,,bobber |
