Default HBOT is helping!!!!

I have been doing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for two hours a day, 5 days a week for almost two weeks now, and it is helping!! I found a study that showed some people going into complete remission from this treatment, and convinced my doctor to let me give it a try. After the first few treatments, the color started to return to my foot and ankle where the original injury occured. After each treatment, I can walk normally for a few hours before the pain comes back, and yesterday, the shower spray hit my foot, and it didn't send me through the roof! I am so hopeful and excited. I know not everyone can do this therapy, but for those who can, it is definitely worth a try. It is only costing me $62 per treatment becasue my insurance pays 80%. The doctors recommend 20 treatments minimum and then they decide whenther you shoud continue on depending on your response. If your doctor will give you a prescription, more insurance companies are starting to cover this as a treatment for RSD. Even if this doesn't put me in complete remission, if I can help others to find some pain relief and hope, it will be well worth it. Best wishes to everyone, and I will post again when my treatment is complete.

Before my 2nd accident in 98, I used to go to the Caribbean and scuba dive. When I was first getting certified, I thought no way. Lugging around all this equipment, (but the folks on the dive boat are a huge help).

Anyway, the effect is pretty much the same as HBOT. I thought I'd be in bed for a day at least, after the first day.. Nope I woke up feeling great, and was ready for more!
It's wonderful to dive, the sights are incredible, it's truly like God's own "Fish tank".

Thanks, amb97, for telling us about the HBOT!

Pete

Hi Amb97,
Thank you so much for sharing your experience about HBOT. My Dr. is a neurologist, pharmacologist and pschiatrist. He has saved my life. I still suffer but not to the extent as before his care. Are you going 2.4 or 2.5? He just built two clinics that each have HBOT. They also help people before and after surgery for healing and other illnesses. Thank you again, loretta

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure whether it's 2.4 or 2.5. I have done 14 treatments and have 6 more to go for the basic recommended course. My sensitivity is sooo much better. I can touch my ankle, and my covers don't bother me at night any more. I actually wore pants with both legs down for the first time in 4 years- seems silly, but I know all of you understand that it's a big deal.

That's amazing about the scuba diving. Must be more fun than lying in a chamber for two hours every day

I appreciate all the support. I hope everyone finds some relief, and I'd be thrilled if HBOT could help some of you.
