Wink Foot Coverings

I have had RSD for the last 5 months and it has progressed pretty quickly. I have had physical therapy for the last 4 months 4 times a week. I have also had 6 spinal lumbar blocks and a Spinal Cord Stimulator trial done, all to no avail. My ortho told me that I probably needed to find a smarter dr and sent me to see a vascular surgeon to r/o vascular issues due to the extreme coldness and blue color of my foot.

I am extremely displeased with my current pain management dr, but my main concern is now that winter is descending upon the Northeast does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can put on my foot to keep it covered but will not cause undue pain. I am currently using a CAN Boot to keep it warm.

I would appreciate any information or help.
Thanks.

HI,
I use slipper socks and if it is too cold I will put a pair of sweat socks on under them. I also brought a good pair of ugg boots for outside and wear the sweat and slipper socks with them. I just have to be sure that the slipper socks do not have any kind of ridges or bumps on them. That makes my feet worse.

I also have CRPS in my Lower Left Extremety. I use Smart Wool Socks to keep my foot warm. They keep it warm but also wick away the sweat that comes with CRPS. I did have to buy them in a larger size but they don't typically irritate my affected foot. Hope this helps!! Good Luck

Leaving you with gentle hugs!!
Sue

hi and welcome!
i'm so sorry to hear you diagnosed with his horrible monster.i also have it both my legs, and back. i use slipper socks, and like others, i wear uggs boots. they're hard to get on, and might upset your sensitivity, but it is well worth it to keep your feet warm. good luck! and keep us posted
best wishes,
taylor

Patagonia makes layering garments, (socks and gloves too), that are called "Capilene".
They wick all moisture to an outer layer. (This company is absolutely the best, at dealing with "wicking" and layering. Just look.
Total Comfort, versatility, and they look good for a long time too.

I Always wear one of their t shirts, and I have their socks.
(Columbia wishes they were Patagonia).

Capilene comes in several "weights".
And, it lasts a LONG time! (It is on the expensive side).

patagonia.com

or,

1.800.638.6464

Go online and order a free catalog.

I hope this helps, I recomend this to ANYONE who has RSD. I've been wearing Patagonia clothes since the early 80's. None better! Service it top notch too!

During my first winter, when I still had a great deal of swelling, I wore trouser socks with wool socks over top and boots a size too large (insoles for unaffected foot/boot). The trouser socks acted as a buffer between my skin and the wool and were nicely warming and if you have issues with tightness, I recommend socks and trouser socks made for diabetics. These can be found at most department stores.

This year (my 3rd) my swelling has entirely dissapated and I am able to wear a regular, though lined boot. Hush Puppies has some great ones out this season if swelling is not an issue, but 5 months in I suspect it is. I cannot pull Uggs on - need a zipper.

Good luck to you!
