SEXY TRIVIA
  1. When reading horizontally from Shakespeare's original published copy of Hamlet, the furthest left hand side reads 'I am a homosexual' in the last 14 lines of the book. Was this a message, or just a coincidence?
  2. Over 50% of all people fantasize more often about money than sex, so technically, Bill Gates is the hearthrob of the world.
  3. According to the World Health Organization, there are approximately 100 million acts of sexual intercourse each day.
  4. Every year, 11,000 Americans injure themselves while trying out bizarre sexual positions.
  5. More than half the American men surveyed in a recent poll admit to having sex with women they disliked. It didn't say how many were referring to their wives ;o)
  6. A female orgasm is a powerfull painkiller (because of the release of endorfines), so headaches are in fact a bad excuse not to have sex.
  7. In a recent interview with 10 prominent sex therapists, the question was posed, 'What is the most important aspect in love making?' One said 'relaxation', Three said 'honesty', and a whopping Six out of Ten said 'staying awake'.
  8. Although Hitler did condemn homosexual acts, he only condemned them between men. Lesbians were not condemned at all. They were rarely (if any at all) sent to concentration camps, because it was not in the laws written by Hitler to condemn women loving other women.
  9. Lip stick was said to have been invented in the Eygptian times for women that specialized in oral sex. They wanted their lips to look more inviting.
  10. Dolphins and humans are the only known animals that have sex for pleasure.

You are all such wonderful folks here, and my friends too.
Thanks for all your kindness!

ok..I'm sorry, but I'm laughing. Only because of your description. . i'm glad you are ok tho. don't know what else to say. ..sometimes things happen, and you really need a partner who is sympathic.

Hugs

I hate to get back to the subject here. However I was in a very loving relationship for about 4 years with my boyfriend. Then I was dx's with RSD. To make a long story short it did not take him a long time to find a reason to end this so called loving relationship! To make matter's worse this was after two failed marriges! Also try to find a new relationship when your on SSDI,food stamps, etc! Also in your mid 50's! I am not trying to play pitty party. I am very blessed for what I have in life! For you that are in a good and strong partnership please work so hard to keep it that way! For this terrible disease that we have is sure easier to handle with two people in the picture! Love To All! Breezy,
you're right! Unfortunately, many humans are rather selfish. Not all, but, I think something is a 'little funny' with this last generation, after the Boomers.

My first wife, came up with the brilliant exclamation, that she didn't want to be married to a "drug addict", when I was put on methadone. I said, that's OK, I don't want to live with pain, and You are one! (I didn't really say that, I was just awestruck by her thinking).
2nd wife, stole everything I had, and my parents had left to me and my children~ (I never worked for anyone in my life, except my parents, or myself), after my TBI. I didn't expect to live, honestly, I was in such a 'walking coma' for several years, kept awake with provigal occasionally. That accident happened 11 years ago, and I'm still up to my ears in litigation.. And,, my children haven't spoke to me in 5 years. (because, I think, they told me it was coming, they could see right through her).

Breezy,
I know you, and lots of us here are alone.
But, there is still a future, and if you want a partner, you will find one!
Just because some jerk didn't or couldn't see the value that IS intrinsic in you, doesn't mean that all are like that!

Be well!

Pete

Default Poll Observation

Kate,

I would think that most people who were inclined to vote in the poll have already done so. I have discovered that in my job as well, that the vast majority of responses occur quickly.

That being said, I am looking at the response numbers. 25 people responded. Of those, 80% (20) are intimate less often than once per week. 52% (13) said less often than once per month. And 20% (5) said they no longer are intimate.

I do not know what averages are considered “normal” but I think these numbers are huge! I have to believe that a normal relationship is intimate at least once per week. (Normal meaning there are no outside factors like medical conditions or work schedules that affect intimacy.) Does anyone have access to statistics like that for comparison?

It would be great if we could get a bigger number of respondents. Generally speaking, the larger the sample, the more accurate the results, as long as other issues do not affect the poll.

Mike

Or to put it bluntly, the substantial majority of us are alienated even in our marriages.

To any former sociology majors out there, I suggest that the RSD/CRPS community would have given a field day to Émile Durkheim. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%89mile_Durkheim But then, some would sadly note, it already has.
