Default finally decided to get a pain pump

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I posted. I've been having a bad few weeks. the jerks and twitches have really increased, and it's hard to sleep at night. I finally decided to have all my info sent to a dr who does the pump. the office called yesterday, and I've got an appt for tomorrow. I'm hoping withing the next week or so that I can go into the hospital for the trial. the trial takes aboutg 4 days in hospital. I've heard good things about the pump. As you may remember, I've had 2 SCSs implanted and then removes. I'm hopefull for the pump. If it works, then (after it settles in and heals, and they get the meds regulated to work), I'll be back to being able to drive, and ride my horses, and get around without the effects of the oral meds that I'm on now. I'll let you all know how it goes tomorrow.

hugs
mary

Good luck to you Mary. I hope this works for you.

= = = = = On a related note = = = = =

Can someone please post a brief explanation of what the "pain pump" is, how it works, etc. Is this the same as they put in for cardiac patients when they need a drug to regulate the heart beat? What type of "med" is being pumped, and where does it pump it to?

Carrie, you have had one for five years? Can you give me a "layman's" description of what this is?

Thanks,

Mike

In case anyone else is interested, lostmary posted a description of the pain pump on an other thread titled: "Yeah, I'm getting the pain pump trial "
