Default question about GERD meds.

I just switched from prevacid to Nexium but I am allergic to the dies in these stomach meds. Are there any that are not colored. I did try Zantac but it doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the help.

Lightbulb

Only the capsule is dyed I believe. If you open it up the beads inside should be white/clear. Can be taken on applesauce or pudding, do NOT Chew.

This drug is also available to be used to create a suspension and no dye is listed:

Default Thank you MrsD.

I never thought of opening them. I will try that from now on. I don't know why they dye these pills. Like anyone cares what color they are. They don't need to match our clothes. LOL

Thanks again and Happy New Year to you.

protonix is my favorite, but when kapidex comes down in price i will switch to it cuz you only take it once a day and it works as well as protonix or better.

Default Hi Mike,

I have to have a med that is once a day, that's why zantac didn't work for me. If it's a 12 hour pill it doesn't last the whole 12 hours for me and usually doesn't do the job.

Nexium and Prevacid are both 24 hour meds, the dye on them just cause me to break out but I think Prevacid is one of the best.

Omeprazole (brand names: Losec, Prilosec, Zegerid, ocid, Lomac, Omepral, Omez)
Lansoprazole (brand names: Prevacid, Zoton, Inhibitol, Levant, Lupizole)
Dexlansoprazole (brand name: Kapidex)
Esomeprazole (brand names: Nexium, Esotrex)
Pantoprazole (brand names: Protonix, Somac, Pantoloc, Pantozol, Zurcal, Pan)
Rabeprazole (brand names: Rabecid, Aciphex, Pariet, Rabeloc. Dorafem:

of these proton pump inhibitors, nexium didnt do a thing for me. prilosec did a little and prevcid solutabs are a little better. that left protonix and aciphex to try cuz kapidex wasnt out yet. i tried protonix 40mg. and it worked pretty good. i just looked at my protonix bottle and it says take once a day. which is how i take it but i thought i was taking half a dose for some reason(referring back to my previous post where i thought you have to take twice a day). i asked my doc to try aciphex to see if its better than protonix and he said kapidex is by far the best ppi working for his patients but it is new so its going to be more expensive. i tried it for 2 weeks and agree that its the best that i have tried so far.

good luck,
