This month has been my worst month ever.
I was t-boned today. Totaled my vehicle. *edit* . Didn't see it until I was out in the highway. It happened right in front of the healthcare place that Susan works at an takes care of me so the people there knew me and took care of me until the ambulance came. My left side of my head hit the window and shattered it. They put me in restraints until they were sure my neck wasn't hurt. Devin is with me tonight. I don't have a concusion but I couldn't be left alone. First, I get the vehicle fix, then my pipes freeze and now I total my car. What a month. Ada Last edited by Jomar; 12-22-2009 at 11:41 PM. Oh Adam how terrible, I'm so glad you were sereiously hurt, but the trauma I'm sure will be with you a while. Sometime the aches and pains don't show up for a day or so. Make sure you don't need a MRI- I got a ruptured disc from a fall and rsd settled in it. You have car insurance right? They'll pay for your bills.
I agree with you, this disorder is financially draining over the years and is long term with lots of losses. I miss working too. Let us know how you are doing over the next few days. your friend, loretta with soft hugs ![]() Last edited by Jomar; 12-22-2009 at 11:43 PM. Reason: removed edited quote |

Ada,
I'm so sorry, so sorry that this happened to you! I'm lost as to what to say, other than make sure that you get checked out well, and that your head is ok. When I injured my head, it took a while for the hematoma to form. So be very careful if you get sleepy constantly, watch for signs! May God be with you! Keep us up to date when you can? pete |

Hi Ada,
I'm so sorry about your car accident. As the others have said, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you monitor yourself for injuries. Often time it can take days or even weeks for boo boos to become obvious. Shock and swelling can hide a lot of damage. As an MVA survivor, I am terribly concerned about how hard you struck your head. I can't imagine taking a blow of that force without sustaining some sort of brain injury. I don't mean to scare you, but these things are often overlooked by doctors and rarely show up on standard MRIs or CAT scans. How are you feeling cognitively? Are you foggy? Can you count backwards by threes? Can you close your eyes and touch your nose. Can you walk heel to toe? Do you have headache? Is light and/or sound bothering you? Are you dizzy? Do you have an upset stomach? How is your speech? (Did you just call your dog a dumptruck?) Are you unusually angry, depressed or irritable? Are your pupils equal and reactive? My last bit of advice is to get a good lawyer ASAP. Those scum ball insurance company adjuster will be at your house in no time. Even when you're not at fault for an accident, it's seldom wise to deal with them on your own. SIGN NOTHING!!!!! Take Care ![]() |

Thanks for all of the well wishes.
Today, my right side is flared and my neck is bothering me. I am also having some dizzy spells. I am waiting for my PCP to call me to see what his thoughts are on it. The hospital did a cat scan of my brain but not my neck. This hospital here is known for it's lousy care. Of course when I watch tv and sees what goes on elsewhere in the ER's I know it's not the only one. My RSD is worse on my right side and even though I got hit on the left, it's my right that is trying to come out today. Hockey, I couldn't count backward by 3's before the accident. LOL I didn't pass out though, I was sick at my stomach yesterday for awhile afterward. I've been on the phone all morning dealing with the insurance and giving my vehicle away. Luckily, I was the only one hurt so that was a plus there. Thanks again for the help and good thoughts. Ada |

Hi Ada,
Dizziness and stomach upset are two common symptoms of concussion. How are you sleeping? Yeah, I know it's hard to ferret all this out when there are underlying conditions. Try to get as much rest as you can. ![]() |
