Something compelled me to come to the boards after not logging in for some time now. I'm so sorry for your loss, my heart and thoughts are with you and your family. Being a mom of 4, I can't imagine. Thank you for even being able to type the post to let us know. I hope your SIL will improve and get better each day. Know that many people love you.

Big Super Soft Hugs,

Karen

Thank you all SOO much.

Knowing we have such a huge amount of love and support from around the world gives us so much strength and comfort.

Maddy, our niece, is doing really well, hardly a scratch on her. Lisa is still very critical but has started improving bit by bit. In a few days they'll see if she's up to breathing or anything on her own. She's had a few setbacks but we're holding on to the good parts we can and keeping hope that she'll recover well.

Thank you again for all your kind thoughts.

*edit*

xx Kate

Three of my kids were in a very serious car crash on Tuesday night. My SIL (my husband's sister, Lisa) was taking Bailey, Olivia and Dayne, with her daughter Maddy up to Matt's parents house to stay, then they were going to go to the zoo the next day. But Lisa's car hit a tanker truck head on, both going 110kph.

Lisa was knocked unconsious straight away.

My 9 year old daughter Olivia, did not survive. Her injuries were extensive. She was on the ventilator etc for a while but they said she couldn't recover from it, so we let them turn the machine's off at around 3:40am yesterday (Wednesday morning here in Aus, your Tuesday).

My eldest daughter, Bailey, who is 11, was so brave. She pulled Dayne out of the car, kept screaming at Liv to wake up and even called us to tell us what happened. She has a sore chest from the seatbelt but is otherwise physically ok.

Dayne's (he's 7) face is cut to pieces from all the glass. He has some cuts held together with stitches but most of them are small. He has thousands of them though, all over his face and head. They had to take all the glass out bit by bit, including some on his eyelids. We are so glad he was asleep when it happened or some of the glass would have gone in his eyes. He also has a sore tummy because of the seatbelt. They thought he might have a broken pelvis, but thankfully he doesn't.

Lisa is in a very bad way. She's on the ventilator. She has some broken bones but the main worry is her head injury. She had multiple bleeds in the brain that they operated on but her brain damage is extensive. She's hanging on for dear life and we're all praying she's going to be ok.

It's all so surreal at the moment, so please keep us in your thoughts while we struggle through this nightmare, and keep Lisa in your prayers. We dont' want this to get any worse than it already is. She needs to be ok.

I can't write any more.

Kate, I am so sorry to hear what happened to your family. I am sorry for the tragic loss of your daughter Olivia. Bailey must have been very brave and smart to help her brother out of the car and call for help. I will say a prayer for Dayne to heal well and for your SIL Lisa. Again, I am sorry and will keep you and your family in my prayers. momof4

Default Our prayers are with you

Dearest Kate,
Wow, is all I can say right now since I am speechless. I like many others here had not been online for a bit and then felt a need to check in. I was devastated to hear your sad news about your family. I am sincerely sorry for this to happen to you. Please know that I, and your RSD family here, will be praying for all of you in your time of need.

You have been my hero since you told me you were the mother of four children AND had RSD but now even more so. You are truly my hero because of your strength and ability to tell us what happened while I am sure you are still in shock yourself.

I also believe that Olivia is truly at peace now with Jesus in heaven. And that you will meet her again some day. For whatever reason, Jesus needed her to join him in heaven. We don't understand why things happen but we must try to go on with some type of life even though the pain hurts so much each day.

It sounds like you have some pretty amazing children and you should be very proud of them. Bailey is quite an unbelieveable child since she could hold it together and do all that she did for everyone around her. Wow. Many adults would not be able to do as she did.

I will keep all of you in my prayers and will even contact my friends so we can begin praying for you and your family all over the United States. Prayer works wonders. Please keep us informed whenever you can as I will be worried about you. Also, It is real important to take care of yourself so that you can take care of others too.
Bless you,
kathy d

Hello Kate, the 6 of you!

I just wanted to repeat, or express again how concern and my heart goes out to ya'll....
Not know what else to say, I can only be simple.... I cannot forget what has happened,
It concerns me daily. I pray for you all, that you can find some peace, and tranquility, and hopefully more love will come your way!

I don't know how, but I wish peace and love on you all!

So then, of whatever faith you may be, I hope that you can gain some comfort that way, I pray to my God, and Jesus for you, often.

Have Peace....
