I used it a few months ago and posted a thread in which no one responded, metanx is a three combonatiom pharmautical vitamin with b6 b12 and folic acid , it is all natural so that the body will reconize and utilize all the nutriants, It is prescribed for nerve damage,,I tryed to use a combo of over the counter vitamins to mimic it,,it helps but the prescription does a better job,,,,,,,,,,

Some patients have used this on our Peripheral Neuropathy forum.

It is designed for those who do not activate (methylate) vitamins properly in the body.

B12=methylcobalamin
folate= methylfolate
B6= pyridoxal 5 phosphate

The vitamins you normally take are not active in the body and must be changed by enzymes to their active form. Metanx contains the active forms, which may be failing for people who have certain DNA mutations.

RSD has not been linked to vitamin deficiencies that I have seen. But Metanx (or the 3 vitamins used separately which are available OTC ) can help nerves repair themselves. You also need a good source of Omega-3s to repair myelin.

One thing that you should consider is getting a Vit D test. Most people in chronic pain can improve their pain, by raising Vit D to normal levels. It is estimated that at least 1/2 of the US (and perhaps more) are low in D.

Watch this medical video for details:

I was found to be vit D deficient about a year ago-even tho I am a sun person etc. I was astonished. i went on a prescribed high dose vit. D. for 6 weeks and continue 5000mg a day OTC. It has helped with the burning pain.
