I am so scared and I think it is the fear of the just not understanding what is going on! I went to see my neurologist yesterday to have an emg. Then I had a Cat-Scan. I was sitting at my apartment today and I get a call from the infusion clinic. I was told that I had a BIG cist on my liver,so now I have to come in to be infused with Prednisone(sp?) two days next week, then two days the next week. Then I need it once a month for the next year! Has anyone evry had this done? I would think that my Dr. would have called me with this type of new's. So please if anyone has been thru this let me know what it's all about? I did try to call my Dr. however he was out of his office already. Thanks so much! Breezy55

Dear Breezy,
I understand the feeling of being scared and not understanding what's going on. I don't know how things work where you are but this news certainly should have come directly from your doctor and if I were you I'd call him on that. Obviously you should be given more information about why they think this course of medication is what is required and what the risks of treatment are. I had steroid injections directly into my eardrum to try to calm down the loud motor sound caused from tinnitus and it did help. Prednisone is a powerful medication with many healing properties when things go wacky. http://www.medicinenet.com/prednisone/article.htm I'm sorry to hear you are going through all this and wish you much peace. MsL

Hi Breezy
Ive not ever had the injections, exspecially in the liver,,,,But I had a pain management Dr give prednisone to me for RSD back 6 months ago,,it did help relieve joint pain in my hip,,It is a powerfull antiiflammatory,,But My ortho Dr didnt want me to stay on it because it does destroy bone density, exspecially in the hip joint,,He didnt want the drug to hinder bonegrowth since I had just had a THR,, The warnings in the insrtuctions with the drug, specifically say that it will attack bone density in the hips,,,The only bad effect that i had was when taken orally,,you are takeing a high dose[loading phase],,and it makes you think weird thoughts,,,I hated the adverse effects, but it did take the pain away,,,,,,,,good luck to you,,,keep us informed,,,,,,bobber |
