Default Fell Again

I just fell again while outside. This makes my second fall in two weeks. This one sent me to the ER. I have RSD in my left leg and foot. They said it was a bad bad sprain in my left foot. They want me to imobolize it for 4 days then to gradually start using it. I have had some loss of range of motion but know since I sprained it it seems to have lost almost all. It is stuck in a downward position almost like a ballarina. I have a appointment tommorow with the PM DOCTOR. I just wondering does any body who has RSD in your foot lost range of motion or stuck in the downward position. I dont know how I will walk on it pointing as far down as it is. Any imput will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. I am sorry you feel again and am glad you are going to your PM doc. I have RSD in both inner ankle/foot/calf. I have lost a lot of range of motion but it is not stuck pointed. For me gradually trying to be less rigid with my movements is made me gain some range of motion and more ability to walk. I know after my airboot in the start of this that was a huge issue cause my foot/ankle was used to being stiff. It took a lot of tears and time to be able to move it again. That is where I think meds, blocks, etc come in.I am in a bad place again but what I have been told is when one can get to a better pain spot through these treatments it will allow one to become more mobile and that in turn will help the overall rsd Hang in there

Sorry to hear about your fall! I hope you feel better soon!

I fell a few weeks ago also and had to go to the hospital and like you, I have a bad sprain and have torn all of the ligaments just under my knee. Because of my RSD, they wouldn't cast it and I was told just to immobilise it and start moving a bit more each day until the ligaments heal properly.

My leg is permanently rotated out to the side in eversion due to a complication of the RSD (Dystonia) that I have in my leg. It is also kinda curved underneath me like yours. It's extremely painful and has been like that for nearly 3 years now. No ammount of muscle relaxants or treatments have helped. My PT's want me to try Botox however every other doctor we have spoken to thinks it's a bad idea.

Like you, I find it hard to walk. I've spent 13 months in a wheelchair due to coordination problems. I can walk short distances now but it's still really hard. Do you use crutches at all? It's important to walk as much as possible as i'm sure you know but maybe they'd help your mobility and they may keep you more stable also?

Do you have a Physical/Occupational Therapist? Maybe you could speak to them and see what they recommend?

I hope you get to feeling better real soon and i'm here if you ever want to talk!

Alison

Hi again. I saw the pain managment doc today. He told me i need to reprogram my SCS and gave me some ambien to sleep through the pain. He then sent me straight to my ortho doc and he said my tendon was tore so he put me in a pretty pink cast for three weeks. He said I would need surgery on my SCS BECAUSE I busted the stiches internally that hold my battery in place. He said we could wait till the cast come off. Thanks for all the replies and support. It helps me so much to talk with someone that is in my shoes. Thanks so much!
