Hi Joanne try u of md. Hopkins doesnt have PM for peds, suprisingly. And they dont specialize in RSD even for adults. I think we live in the same area as each other. If u of md doesnt have anything, then try sinai, and again if not there then try CHOP or A.I dupont. Im sorry she is having to go threw this!

Changes in barometric pressure affect my gf with CRPS as well. I've done a bit of research and there was some suggestion in a medical journal that this may be in part due to the concentration of positive ions, which skyrockets right before a storm. This patient tried a negative ion generator and had success. During the hurricane a few months ago, my girlfriend could feel it coming on the day before it came through and started really flaring. I rushed out to the store and bought an air filter that had a negative ion generator. It didn't take the flare away completely but it dramatically affected her pain levels such that she could sleep. That was for a very big storm as well. Our experience has been that if she's feeling any pain from a pending storm the ion generator can help significantly. She says she can tell a difference immediately upon entering the room with the generator.

As far as generators go. I've done a fair bit of research on these as well and there are some things you should avoid. Some ion generators generate ozone (which is very bad for your respiratory health) at high concentrations. Most produce some level of ozone, but they all have to be under a certain concentration now. I found the regulations in California to be the most stringent on this and so I found the listing of all the machines that meet their requirements and picked one there (a holmes brand from sears). Either way, I'd probably not put the machine by your head as that's where the ozone is more likely to be concentrated.
