Default Update on last FALL!

I was seen in the ER on Sunday( It wil be two weeks on this Sunday! ) They said it was a bad sprain to my RSD foot. I went to see my PM Doc on Wednesday after the fall. He sent me straight to the Ortho Doc. He then said I had ripped my tendons in my RSD foot. He said a cast would be nessasary even though it is not recommened. So now I have a bright hot pink cast on my foot. Now the cast is breaking on the bottom were I have to try to walk on it. To top all that off when I fell I ripped my internal stiches in my battery of my SCS out. Now it is protruding badly and I must have surgery to repair the damage. I then went to the physc. and he basically told me I was a hopless case and that as my pain worsened that my depression would and that I would just have to deal with it because the meds wern't helping. This is only the first antidepressent he has tried and the second anti anxiety/never pills he has tried. It just looks like there would be other choices out there. Thanks for listening to my rant just needed to get it off my chest and my husband just don't understand were Im coming from. Thanks to all! Hope you are feeling good today!

Hi Abrown and welcome to neurotalk. I'm so sorry you fell'so many complications from one little slip especially the SCS and a cast is so easy fix either. I think you need a new psych. He definetly doesn't fit the bill in building a positive attitude and good role model. Sounds like he needs meds.
Anyway many of us are liking Cymbalta-I take 120 mg. Another med was just approved for an antidepressant-Seroquel XR I tak 150 mg. Also a miracle for helping me sleep. Because of restorative sleep was able to lower pain med-vicodin from 6 mg to 4 mg a day and anti-anxiety med-Lorazepam from 6mg to 4 mg a day. My psych is also a neurologist and pharmachologist-a good combination and caring Dr. Always researching and willing to ready what I find. I've been with him 6 years when I went full body. And now it's internal, burning pelvic area red hot skin radiating heat in pelvic area, lower spine etc. Not good. Stay with us. You can share you true feelings any time.
Remember no ice- Epson salt bath is good. Water temp needs to be 86 degrees according to RSDSA. Journaling helps with our feelins. I enjoy music, scented candles, reading positive books. meditation, prayer, keeping in touch with friends, RSD support group. massage therapy light touch is wonderful to me. Some can't handle it, but I believe I can, because of starting it 15 years ago and got desensitized. Take care and let us know how you are. your friend, loretta with big soft hugs
