Hi everyone. I am still in crisis over meds. We have just tried morphine immediate release 30mg 4 times per day with my Opana 3 times per day and the morphine is not controlling the breakthrough pain. In fact it is not working for me at all. It is giving me horrible side effects, day mares. It basically numbs my brain makes me fall asleep, but the pain is still there and i wake every hour. My Pm is considering trying di Dilaudid next for the breakthrough pain? has this worked for anyone. My body became used to oxycondone and it lost it effectiveness after 5 years. thank you dc

I had taken Dulaudid in the past after surgery in my female area. It really helped with breakthrough pain, but it REALLY affected my mind. I would completely forget days at a time and was extremely sleepy. It is a synthetic form of opium. I think it is classified as one of the stronger narcotics on the market. I am currently taking Nucynta, which is a form of Morphine. My doctor is switching me to Dulaudid next if I can't stomach my current meds. Hope you get relief from this.

I'm currently taking Diluadid, but it is thru a pain pump. I get all the benefits of the drugs that are in the pump, and none of the side effects. this is because the meds circulate in the spinal fluid and they don't cross the spine brain barrier to cause all the brain fog feeling. It also doesn't go thru the liver, kidneys, etc, again because it never had to leave the spinal fluid. I love it.
Hugs Mary
