Over on the Peripheral Neuropathy forum, that's one of the most talked-about supplements ! Go over there and it's either in the 'stickies' or just do a 'search' and you'll get aLLL kinds of good advice......esp MrsD - she has the knowledge to share all the 'ins and outs' of it!
There are certain ones that target pain Re: nerve regeneration.... When I began the Magnesium/B12.....(the list goes on) supplements, that's when I noticed a dramatic change for the better as far as lowering pain spikes and being able to control pain better..... She emphasizes against the magnesium 'Oxide'......... check it out, it's a VERY important supplement ![]() |

I recently read somewhere that magnesium acts like a weak NMDA inhibitor to help block pain.

It is not perscription but I take a well absorbed magnesium supplement. Magnesium is the only one I order online to get the kind the holistic doctor I saw suggested. Then on the boards it has been recomended as well. I have been taking it for a few years. I can't say if I see a benefit or not though but it does not hurt.

Dear Carol, I am so thrilled that you even brought up Magnesium, I have had have RSD for 24 years and now have total body anyway , I started having internal problems about 2 years ago, Kind of like IBS, but now its to a point that I can't go to the bathroom without having to take some kind of laxative daily , and it gets so painful, well I was just reading about Magnesium plus activated vitamin b6 to work for constipation, plus a mood elevator, plus a muscle relaxant ,and then all the other things that have been said on this board and the other board, I think this something that might be really good for so many reasons, and its all natural, I think we should all talk to our Dr.'s about this just to make sure it does not conflict with any other meds we might be taking. If anyone is taking this combination, plz let me know the benefits that you are experiencing. The internal RSD is so painful in my intestines that I'm hoping so that this is the answer for at least this part of my RSD. Thank you so much again. Your friend Wendy

Sorry you had another injury. That happened to me too. I wasn't diagnosed with rsd for 4 years, so was better after a year of physical therapy, and went water skiing, felt a pull in hand, and got it in my hand, now both hands, feet etc. I find it very informative on this site as well as comforting and support. Even our friends and family that love us can't fully understand this monster and how we are affected physically and emotionally. Take care, one of your new friends, loretta ![]() |

It's been almost two dreadful years since getting RSD! I've been trying to be selective with the medication that has been pushed to me, and Lord behold magnesium came into my life. The relief is mind clearing for me, I can sleep and it sooths constant continuing spasms. When you want to talk about pumps that need to be installed and medication that gives violent nightmares, or cutting of things that might make this experience worse. Magnesium came into my life like a Knight in Shining Armor, and I do recommend. I think I'm still in the shocked at this stage of RSD. I cannot believe the amount of pain and discomfort that you just can't shake it off! What I like about magnesium is that it's suddle, with minimal symptoms. I don't mean to sound like I'm having a love affair but it's rare to be able to wake up with energy to leave to house.
