Confused Blood Pressure

My blood pressure is out of control and I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem with their RSD. I have dr appt today and I am going on meds...I am also going to ask for B12 shots...I took those when I was a teenager and it helped my energy level...please advise

Hi I don't have this but have heard others mention it. Are you on any meds that have increase blood pressure as a side effect? On the note of b12 have you had yours tested to see if you are low? I hope you get some answers at the doc apt. Feel better

Mine is all over the place right now too. I need to get to the PC doc to have it checked out because the PM doc doesn't "deal" with these kinds of problems although they can be directly related to RSD. Good Luck!! Lisa

I have horrible high blood pressure, when I am in flares it gets so high that if I end up in the ER I am taken back right away because its tht high and I am only 22. I am on 2 meds for blood pressure and they help greatly if I miss a dose I can feel it right then, I can feel my pulse through my whole body. I am sorry you too are having problems and hope you find something to get it under control.

I take medicine for an arrhythmia and that usually keeps things under control. However when I'm in pain, even with this medicine, my blood pressure goes way up. Was just diagnosed with RSD last month so I need to see my cardiologist to make sure I'm on the right track. Have heard my pulse in my right ear at night and don't know what to think.

Good luck Cindi.

When your pain goes up your blood pressure can definitely go up and/or spike up. The problem with this is it is bad for our hearts. I see some people even see cardiologists.

Right now I am losing control over my RSD but usually Fentanyl patch, Ativan and Dilaudid catch it. Anyone else follow this regimen?

Interesting information, Loretta
Can always count on you to explain it logically.

This is what I cannot get under control. I dont get it. It is so high lately. Even having PVCs, brain zaps, palpatations and head is throbbing breathing labored. Doc put me on BP meds this week and I had a serious reaction. I have NEVER had BP issues until my injury lately just skyrocketing bringing on other sx's. Master P had to go without me this morning to the Fibromyalgia Awarness Day. Im in bed and my daughters wedding shower is this evening. Using tons of hypnotherapy, visualization.

Yeppers! High blood pressure for me to. Right before the doctor put me on 3 BP meds he took a reading in his office of 190/115. He said I would have a stroke if we couldnt get it down. Even on 3 different BP meds it is borderline high.

The doctor wont acceot that it is from RSD, butI know it is because before I got RSD I was working out 3 to 4 days a week for 11 years. My heart rate and blood pressure were waaaaaay down there compared to now LOL!

It does seem to spike up on the bad pain days, and even during light stress. Just another thing to deal with since RSD made its home in my body.

Hi Cindy, Hope you go to Dr. and let him know about your symptoms. High blood pressure is serious and can have serious consequences. When I first was diagnosed with RSD and followed up with high blood pressure, I also had electric jolts, stabs thru my body, thru my brain, raising my head up. Actually was put on neurotin, an anti-seizure med for the symptoms stopped. Was on 3200 mg of neurotin. After a long time on that, I gradually went off and electric jolts, jerks stoppd for the most part. I believe the RSD affecting the Limbic part of brain caused that. Haven't looked it up for a look time. I still have times of my memory having cliches when speaking-forgetting a word or grasping for a work while speaking.
The website www.rsdrx.com is very good. Dr. Hooshmand from Florida practiced 40 years on RSD. He's retired, but still has website up. Go to puzzles list-they are actually 147 questions and his answers to patients. It will explain the blood pressure, and other symptoms very well.
Hope to follow thru with the Dr. Isn't this a wonderful family of caring people who really are 'there for us' and 'we for them' Hope you have a nice weekend. Take care, your friend, loretta

Hi Cindi, I'm sorry you have RSD. One of the 3 main symptoms of RSD is lack of control involuntary organs, thus blood pressure both high and low. The sympthatetic nervous system causes high blood pressure. and the para sympathetic nervous system can cause it to become dangerously low-there fore possibly passing out (happened to me) Another issue -it affects our immune system, and circulation is another big issue.
I've had RSD 15 years, and before RSD had good blood pressure, active in sports, but now on 2 blood pressure meds, one double and one triple dosed.
Have been to cardiologist from a irregular ekg.
The blood pressure kits are only about $30 at costco. My Dr. has me take my pressure regular and journal it. Be sure and get checked. your friend, loretta
