I use front hook bras because I cannot hook them in the back, and then put a Lidoderm patch under the strap on my worst side.
One of the best things about not working now is that I don't have to wear a bra. I used to be able to use sports bra that pulled on over my head, but now my arm movement is more limited and can't get into one. I am ok with shirts that slip on, because they are not tight, but a bra that goes over the head becomes tight when it gets to the trunk area and I can't get my arms to the position needed to pull it down. The downside of not working is that when my Cobra insurance runs out, I won't be able to get Lidoderm patchs - then I don't know what I will do. |
Daylily,
You could try asking your doc if he would feel comfortable increasing your script for the lidoderm patches.....ie, if he writes for 1 a day now (for the worse side) would he write for 2 to also cover the not quite as bad side ? Or even more to cover the fact that they must ride up and stick to themselves if you are applying under your bra strap. Maybe you can stockpile a bit Are you applying for SSDI if you can't work ? Then you could eventually get Medicare. Sorry if you've already answered that one elsewhere.....the joys of brainfog, my memory is not what it should be Hugs  |
Haha!
You are all too creative. I can't stand wearing a bra. I know that I am droopy (44 years old, two kids), its easier to not be obvious when its colder. I really like the idea of the bikini top. What about those stick-on things? Could get kinda expensive. Or, if desperate, one could always resort to duct tape!!! haha... Kim |
sleeping bras.... wireless... Victoria secret has one that I can tolerate most days. On some days I cant. try looking for a sleeping bra. They tend to be really soft and not tight or with metal clasps. :) I hate bras.

finz, I already have a script for 3 patches a day. I need to use one on my arm and one on my leg, so that leaves one for under the bra strap. On the other side, which is not as bad, I slather on my ketamine cream.
I was outside today, attempting to do some weeding. Now, I live out in the middle of nowhere. No houses within site. 700 feet from the road. I was braless, of course. I was sweating up a storm, had not bothered to comb my hair, knowing I would get in the shower when I came in. A guy I worked with at my last job - he and his family have become friends - stopped in !!! unannounced! Oh, my was I embarrassed! He said he was nearby and thought he would stop in and see if there was anything he could do do help me out. What a sweetheart! I am overweight and large chested, so when I am braless, it cannot be overlooked! Geesh. I could tell he was trying hard not to notice....:eek::eek: I told him I didn't expect anyone to visit! :D edited for leaving out a word |
Sorry daylilyfan.
That just sucks!! I know he meant well; BUT... |
I learned early here about Lidoderm patches, if you put a small amount of WARM water on them, they stick much better. Before that, I have awoken (sp?) with them in my hair, feet, blankets, in the dryer,,, etc. Not sexy!

not to hijack the thread... but I get some liquid from the company that I get my TENS supplies from. It rolls on and helps keep the tens pads on - that stuff is KILLER for keeping lidoderm patches on!

Hi! Since I had my SCS implanted it to hurts to wear a bra. I found what is called a sleep bra in one of those magizines like mabye Carol Right or something of the sort. I am not little busted by no means but these are made very soft and they clasp in the front which makes them easy to put on for me. I bought them to wear at night because I have always had a very big bust and it just feels more comfortable to have them enclosed and controlled. LOL Any way since the surgery these have been my life saver. My only complaint is that if its cold and your shirt is thin, the headlights might be on bright. LOL This is the only thing about wearing them out. If I could find a solution to this they would be perfect. Hope you can find a solution to it cause it can be quit embarrasing without a bra if you have to leave the house.:Blush2: Best of luck to ya!!!!
