Colorado has let dispenseries go in around my area. They are popping up like resturants. Now they are talking about setting aside areas in schools for kids to smoke pot who smoke it for medicinal purposes.
Personally, I am thankful Dustin graduates this year and Devin is being home schooled at this time due to a move they are making and the fact that Travis isn't happy about what the boys are being taught anyway. I don't have any mixed feelings about this, I just disagree with it. They had this one boy on tv in California that couldn't sleep so he gets to smoke it. I wonder if he needs it to sleep through class. I know I will hear a lot on this one. What's your thought? Ada |

With AZ just approving Prop 203, this has been on my mind alot lately too. They say they will be limiting the number of dispenseries, and there are only certain medical conditions that will be approved for use ( I dont recall insominia as one of them though) I dont agree with allowing smoking in any school period. If the boy in CA cant sleep, why would he need to smoke during school hours unless its like you said, to sleep during class. As far as smoking/vaporizing/ingesting the stuff though, I do think if it helps then do it, in the privacy of your own home, and under the guidelines set by the state. Would I try it? well im on the fence, now I did smoke a hooter (lol showing my age eh) back in highschool and the only thing I got out of it was the munchies so bad...I ate stuff I didnt even like ![]() hopefully my ramblings made some sort of sense this morning, looking forward to hearing others thoughts too take care ![]() |

We have 9 in our area and they want some in the town now. Our town is made up of maybe 5000. The town with 6 only has about 3000 and the next town is maybe 10,000 and they have 3 and more coming in.
A friend of mine says they are now letting them smoke it for carpal tunnel pain, tendenitis, sleep, and I don't know what else. I don't quite understand why the Marinol pill is not being used. i have yet to meet one person taking it and it's been out for about 10 years. I would say too, the privacy of the home. My friend took her son downtown in the next town trick or treating and she said the streets reeked of the smell of Marijuana. She was appalled by it. Here you are walking your kids through the smell of it. Just tell them not to breath in I guess. Ada |

The people who put together Arizona's Medical Marijuana proposition said they tried to learn from other states on what went right/wrong. Yes, Arizona is limiting dispensaries to 1 per 10 pharmacies which amounts to about 140 dispensaries in the state. And if someone lives more than 25 miles from a dispensary they allegedly will be able to grow it.
Also there will be a database that will track when you get your 2.5 oz (per 14 days) so you don't try to go from one dispensary to another. You must have a 'recommendation' from a doctor. The conditions are for all the obvious pain: ALS, cancer, HIV, etc. but they've also said conditions that cause chronic pain. (I'm paraphrasing) It seems Arizona has put in place some controls that other states haven't but we'll see when it gets enacted in April of next year. I am all for it to hopefully get off these damn opioids. We had a NP from the chronic pain department of a hospital speak to our RSD support group last month. He said Marinol doesn't have all the therapeutic cannabinoids (sp) that the plant does. His patient success rate for Marinol helping was 50/50. He was strongly against anyone smoking anything and was hoping a cream would be developed to apply directly to the problem area. Nancy |

I am glad to hear that someone uses the Marinol. I just can't figure why it isn't used more. I'm glad it works for you too.

Hi Ada
![]() I am a legal cannibus patient in Canada and I have also been on a drug called naboline, another synthetic THC derivitive. I found that the nabolone didn't work near as well for as many of the symptoms as ingesting cannibus does (brownies/cookies measured) also as with alot of people I have found it hard to get funding for synthetic THC meds (big $$$). I have a friend who takes Marinol when she can't smoke her medical cannibus or when she gets certain types of pain and nausia.. she has cancer as well as RSD.. she says the smoke usualy works better than the marinol. I think like any medicine precautions should be taken.. unfortunately Cannibus does not come in "doses" or "brands" like a "PHARMA". Selecting proper strains for patients: http://www.canadianmedicinalmarijuana.com/?p=92 As for kids I think if they realy need it their dosages should be regulated in some way that is safe and private with supevision.. but they realy need to be closely monitored and in some cases that just isn't happening. I would wonder what condition is making him lack sleep, I do sleep well with my brownies but "lack of sleep" shouldnt be on the medical cannibis list anyway holey. And if thats the case one lil pece of brownie at night is all he should need each night... it won't effect his day and he at least certainly shouldnt have to smoke in school. Studies show that addiction to cannibus is promoted by smoking cigarettes when you first start smoking cannibus.. sometimes people light up a cigarette right after (or before) smoking cannibus, the chemicals used in the cigarettes to promote addiction are transferred within the endocannibioid system in our bodies. hugs ![]() ~ Sandra |

I has RSD and I find my medications make me very nausuous, I find that if I smoke a little I can hold down my food. I have to work to get insurance, but sometimes I am so sick or in so much pain I have a hard time getting to work, I can't take my apin pills then go to work. I have found, however, that if I wake up and take a couple puffs I mean 2 or 3,not a ton) that my stomache settles, my pain subdues enough to get up and long enough for my Gabapentin and Zanflex to start working. Without Marijuana I would be up 2 atleast 4 Percocet a day, I take 1 everynight that's it. My son is concerned about me smoking (he is almost 17, just don't want you all to think he is young like 5 or 10yrs old). He has actually encouraged me to bake the marijuana into butter then using it to cook food with. It gives me a different high, more of a body high that allievates alot of the body pain. However it helps less with the nausea. So I just try to use moderation, as I do with all my meds. I think that smoking areas in high schools are a seriously bad idea by the way. If the child is that much of a mess he should be at home under the care of his guardian. I don't think marijuana is bad, but it can easily be abused. We need to teach our children about moderation, and use moderation ourselves so that we are good role models for our children. I have RSD and I'm not letting it take over my life, I will try anything to help the pain. I am enrolled in my doctorial degree program, I will be a doctor and RSD will not stop me. I wish great sucess and much pain relief to all. Keep your heads up and keep up the good fight.
