Well if nothing else RSD is impressive ! It amazes me how the RSD short circuits the nervous system . Sometimes out of nothing else you can do about it I admit I am impressed with how the nervous system works . Yesterday it was 101*F and my leg and arm where so cold I took three hot baths to calm them down , and now today is a cooler rainy day and I am sweating and trying to keep cool . Luckily the pain level is at a tolerable level at this minute . This brings up a second point , my pain mgmt doc. has suggested the need of cadavers of RSD patients to study the nervous system in depth to see what the nerves are like in a patient with this ugly monster . This was only mentioned and discussed in a professional manner in which we where talking about research of RSD . Just curious , has anyone considered this or looked into this ? Sort of eerie to talk about , but reality none the less .Take care!!!

Yes, my Dr. and I have discussed the option of research on RSD and cadavers..but his take was until we can take a "plug" out of someones brain who is alive and suffers from RSD..it would not be beneficial... As people who have passed..the information would not be useful...SO it seems were are out of luck, once again, as none of us would care to have a portion of our brain removed while we are still here and to tell about it..

I am so sorry for your short circuited-ness temperature guage...Oh gosh, we can all relate to the instant sweats and cold...what a show and tell project we are!!!! Our neurologic system along with the rest of us sure are intraquit...

Sure is a strange disease. The stats seem to show most folks get this condition around 37 years of age on average. Most are female and most are caucasian, most by far western european decent. So it seems gender, age and ethnicity play a role, or does it. Is it under reported in other regions like Asia, Africa etc...? It's possible a cure is staring us in the face but just can't see it, yet.

Before RSD I never would have guessed that limbs and organs have their own consciousness. But it bleeds through and I become semi aware of them. I suspect that this is most of what they call muscle memory.
