I rarely ever had a headache before I was in a car wreck in 1991. I suffered severe whiplash & had a left sided(the whole left side) only headache 24/7 from July 6, 1991 until sometime in the fall of 1977. Now this headache was NOT your run of the mill tension or migraine type of headache. It would hurt so badly I would become nauseated (to the point of vomitting sometimes), & cry & I rarely cry, ever. Anyway nothing helped, not morphine, nor neubain (they use to give it to pg women while in labor for the labor pains), nor stadol came close to helping. The only thing that helped at all was, injectable Toradol, which seemed to diminish the swelling & inflammation of the Ocipital nerve which caused alot of this headache & diminish the muscle swellings in my neck & shoulder. They even taught me to inject the Toradol in my thigh muscle myself to keep me from having to go the ER or Dotor's office for the shot. Finally I saw an Atlas Orthogonal Chiropracter who moved my Atlas (btw, the Atlas is the top bone in the spinal column that our skull sits on) which had been twisted around my brainstem 7cm, via whiplah. from around my brainstem. Due to maintenance chiro visits to a NUCCA Chiro he has kept me pretty much headache free for approximately 10 yrs. Now at this time this adjustment is NO longer holding like it use to & am now having the same type of headaches again. The only thing I can do is seek an adjustment from a NUCCA Chiropracter. I saw an AO Chiro from '96 until 2000. Since moving out here to CA from Iowa in '99, I have been seeing a NUCCA Chiro from 2000 thru to the present. The AO Chiro told me if I couldn't find an AO Chiro out here, to find a NUCCA Chiro instead as the technique they use is different but does the same thing.......adjsuts the Atlas into place. So I would have to say that I do NOT have headaches that are caused by RSD or were the precursor to having RSD. But that I do have them due to a severe whiplash injury. I do believe the reason I am having them again so badly is due to when I had lumbar back surgery last year on 6/1, after surgery I was in ALOT of pain & they felt that they gave me too much pain medication & they stripped me with a different medication of all medications, including morphine, The hosp. doctor didn't put me back on it right away, he thought I was on too high of a dose anyway, & I went into immediate withdrawal thus into a comatose state for 3 days. I couldn't fight for my right to be put back on it & I got out of bed unknowingly & fell at some point. Also while in bed those 3 days, I threw my head back & forth constantly & messed myself up worse than I was & now the adjustments won't hold, even tho the chiro did re-x-ray me to adjust how he adjusted me if need be & there was that need. (btw, when that doctor stripped me of medications they even ended up having to give me thryroid hormones, magnesium, potassium & more I can't remember from reading my medical record of that hosp. stay, & even insulin, that is how badly I was stripped of 'stuff') He finanlly called in a neurologist cause I kept getting worse & not better, who ordered him to put me back on the morphine, I realized they were about to give me an injection of insulin. I freaked cause I am NOT a diabetic, altho they informed me I had been for several days. I also don't have thyroid disease either even tho they had to give thyroid hormones too. I also wouldn't or couldn't eat even tho I was technically awake & talking to them, unbeknownst to me, I have 3 days that I can remember 0% of, nada, zilch, nothing of at al, of, talk about scareyl. Heck I refused to do anything during that time my hubby tells me. See I didn't know who I was or he was........hell I didn't even know what year it was or the month. I was just 'gone' so to speak. Anyway.........I was physically hard on myself & haven't held an adjustment since so right now I am suffering from headaches once again, but I do not have them due to RSD though.

I am sorry alot of you do & had them before even. There is nothing worse than headache. I will take my RSD feet over having a headache 24/7, 365 days of the year. I can think with this foot pain while I couldn't think at all with the headache pain most of the time. And also pain medication actually helps control this foot pain. It did NOT help with the headache I was having.
