Default Surgery w/RSD

Hello out there,

I am hoping to find someone with the same disease as I do, it has been a rollar coaster ride, for over 10 years. Diagnosed in 2009. I did something to my left knee, which happens to be the leg with the most trouble. Has anyone out there ever had any kind of surgery without excarbating the onslaught of a flare?

Thank You,
argy

First off welcome. You will find so many people here that have warming hearts that will offer great advice to you. On days you need to vent feel free, you can never complain to much. We all live it everyday and know what you go through. Please feel welcome.

Secondly, No I haven't. All of my surgeries caused hell. I had my wisdom teeth out about 2 months ago and I am still feeling horrible pain from it. I had an abcess grow on my gum too so had to have surgery again to take that out. Best of luck, and make sure that you get a full nerve block before you do any type of surgery to try to prevent a flare, and have plenty of STRONG narcotics for after the surgery. Vicodin and that stuff wont cut it. You might need diladid and fetanyl like I did. Best of luck.

Welcome ! I have not had any non RSD surgeries but from what I have read a block is strongly recommended and it seems I remember reading an increased uptake in vitamin C leading up to the surgery and afterwards helped keep flares/spread minimal . Good luck and take care !
