jars

Ada...
You can usually open a jar lid easily with a screw driver. Very gently, put just the very tip of the flat end of the screwdriver under the very edge of the jar lid up at the area where the threads are. You want the edge of the blade of the screwdriver to be square to the lid so that the whole blade is under the lid, not just a corner. Then, just slightly - gently now - twist the screwdriver just a little to the left or right until you hear the seal break on the lid... a tiny little "pop" should be heard ... Remove the screwdriver and 9 times out of 10 the lid will then be easily opened.

You can also try putting the tip of a bowl of a spoon under beside the little tab like thing that's on the bottom of the lid and prying just a bit to break the seal.. but the screwdriver is much easier.

You just have to be really careful not to twist to much, or the lid will be to warped to seal back ON.... and not to twist so much that you take a chance on breaking the glass, or cracking it. It only takes a very slight amount.

hey vicc.....

bill collectors and doctors are exempt from US being rude to them.........they usually start it, and then, hey the game is on....................lafffff

i just mean how people stand in the way, not giving an inch, being loud and crude, (for no reason) etc........or just plain hurtful.............

thanks coach for the tips on tags.............they too drive me nuts, especially if i try to cut a part out..............

that is a good one too about talking louder to you when you use your cane........so funny...wonder why they do that?///

great thread............................i will bring the cheese so we can all enjoy the whines..................

I agree with Anna on getting things open. They make those medication bottle lids that are kid safe that we can't get open.

Hey, Ada....I have my pharmacist put in my file "easy open lid only" cuz I can't get the childproof lids open either. And I then keep then in my dresser drawer :)

As for the lids on jars. HINT: If you take a steak knife, and take the pointy end and stick it under the lip of the jar, then pull out, so you are pulling the lid away from the jar kinda...and do this around the edge in about 3-4 places, it will loosen the jar so it just unscrews really easy...and it will still screw on securely :)

Does that "never intentionally rude" rule apply to bill collectors? Could my wife have been right? Was it my bad to say those things to him? So many bill collectors, I have no idea who I may have offended, how can I possibly make it up to him?

Nevermind...Vic

Vic, I have found that with Bill Collectors or telemarketers, asking them if they take foodstamps gets them off the phone right quick

Ooooh! But I LOVE pennies. Any type of change really. I save my change. All of it. I have over $1200 in silver, and I don't know how much in pennies, but about 1/3 of one of those tall plastic coke bottle banks is filled so far. See....I'm going to use it for my dream vacation one day. You'd be surprised how much change you accumulate in a month! Try it! You don't miss it, really, and it comes in truly handy!

Just take those pennies and dump them into a coffee can, and I bet one day you'll have enough to buy yourself a grand surprise. That will change your mind about those dirty little things!

OOOooHHHH this is fun!!!

The first one that made me REALLY LAUGH HARD was the doors that pull open!! Who came up with that idea!!??!! :Scratch-Head:

Then the NO PROBLEM instead of "Your'e welcome" or "My pleasure". What is happening to graciousness and courtesy in this world???

I guess that ties into the not returning phone calls, or being rude to people on the phone pet peeve.

I have noticed that some of the clothing manufacturer's are "stamping" labels into clothes now to avoid scratachy tags. For instance JJill, Target, Kohl's and Mervyns are stamping them in to tops, Some underwear companies are doing this as well.

Kudos to all for the tips on removing labels, lids and the like!! :Good-Post:

I have always had a problem with clothing labels, and both of my sons do as well.. I have cut them out for as long as I can remember. Once when I was about 12, my mom got me a new shirt and I was cutting the tag out of it and cut a big hole in the shirt..LOL

Ada, I take a jar and hit it on the counter top to get it to open, and that just about always works..

Rude people? OMG I really dislike rude people. I hate being in Wal-Mart or any other place, and have some rude person to deal with, and that's just about an every trip encounter.

People pulling out in front of you while driving down the road and then going about 5 miles per hour and turning 2 driveways down..

My list could go on, but I will stop for now..LOL

I hope you all are having a good day. It's cold and yucky here, and it is suppose to rain through Tuesday or Wednesday, and I'm trying to get moved..

Love to all,
janet

Nope - that's my Tucker! He's my golden. I have a Lab, too, though. That would be Josie. I attached a pic of her - she's SOLID muscle and when she wags her tail her whole BODY wags (so we have to put things up high when we let her in the house or it's like a tornado tail comes thru! :) !

Oh, and I have also attached another picture of Tucker now that he's grown a bit. He is coming up on his second birthday :D

Would you like to see Phoenix or Jessie or Bailey or Bud? Bud is my dragon. He was my valentines day gift last year (and yes, that IS what I asked for LOL!)
