This is going to sound SO wrong, but....I love this place. Seriously.
I can finally actually talk to people about this sort of thing that understand!

In fairness to the situation, I must point out that my father spent most of his life in pain - he was born with a congenital problem which meant that he had to have his left hipbone removed at birth, and he had lots of skeletal problems throughout his life. At 45, he had a hip replacement, and now lives essentially pain-free, for which I thank God.

I also thank God that I had someone in my life who could begin to understand what it's like to live with constant pain. However, even he can forget, and for everyone else - Dad limped, and still does. It's obvious that he's disabled. Unless I'm having a REALLY bad day, I try not to limp because it doesn't help, and because my left leg is beginning to deteriorate from overuse.
It's a catch-22...if I limp, people will see that I have a problem (which most of the time I wouldn't really like anyway), but then I'll have a worse problem.

If I don't limp, I get the "person in perfect health" scenario.

Frogga, do I understand by your signature that you are also a student? If yes, hooray! If not, hooray anyway!

LisaM, your doggies are ADORABLE!! Especially your Golden Retriever. Aww... I have a 2 1/2 yr. old Golden, and his name is Sammy. He is a loveable sweetheart. He makes me feel better some days. Pets are good that way. Well, then they do some things that really irk you... but then they have the sweetest look...

Aw, thank you IHH! Tucker is the joker of the bunch. If we're ever in a bad mood, Tucker can ALWAYS make you feel better. About him, we say, "He just does FUNNY STUFF!" that's the only way to explain him. And if there's a lap to be found, well, he's in it! He weighs almost 100lbs, but he'd rather be in your lap. If you're standing, he's leaning against your legs with all his weight. LOL! We have 5 dogs all together. We love each and every one of them.

Story behind that is that me and my SO were obviously made for each other. We met on match.com, see, and he had 3 female dogs. I had 3 male dogs. We ended up moving in together, and when we did, we had the "Four Legged Variety" of the Brady Bunch. But then I lost my Riley - who was another Golden Retriever, when he was just 3 years old. He had epilepsy VERY bad, with seizures daily - sometimes upwards of 5 a day. I did everything I could to save him...but in the end, God wanted him, I guess. I think that's the only time in a very, very long time I got drunk. My SO was shocked when, thru my tears I asked him to get me a beer. Then 3 minutes later I handed him the empty bottle and asked him for another...and 3 minutes later, another...and so on and so on. And I don't drink AT ALL, so you can imagine how toasted I was. That's not me. It broke my heart in a million pieces.

Your pups are gorge!!!! I can identify with losing Riley

I used to have 2 white alsations and 6 cats..... We rescued the dogs from a shelter whenn they were 8 and 10. When we got them they had been badly abused, didn't know how to live in a house, cryed if you weren't with them, and were petrified of being fussed in case we beat them up. We worked so hard to get them socialised (imagine one 100pound dog and someone in a wheelchair at dog training! it's bad!)

But Fatpig died about 6 months ago from throat cancer and I was gutted - I still miss him today.. when I was really sore he'd come up to my room and just "hmph" at me... he was just so cute.......... (and about 100pounds as well... but he thought he was much thinner than that and would get into bed with my sis or my mum at night... (he was taller when he sat down that i was when I was sitting in my wheelchair!!) - but we have been left with Booboo (Fatpigs "SO") and 5 cats (we lost yimbo)

Losing an animal is dreadful - losing fattypoos was the worst thing ever, the whole family went into mourning over him.. especially when we buried his ashes under a rose tree next to yimbo's...

But, I wouldn't be without them!
