Hello All,
In our home town newspaper we have a column written by a Dr. Gott, In his column he had some home remedies that I thought sounded interesting. These remedies like the different treatments we all get for RSD don't work for all but some have been written about more than once. 1. Place a bar of opened soap in your bed for leg cramps, you will know when to change the bar as leg cramps will start again (about every 3 months). This one has been written about more than 10 times. 2. Rub castor oil on joints (they make one without an odor, ask your pharmacist) supposed to take away the pain of arthritis. At least 6 or 8 people wrote in to say this works. 3. Rub Vicks Vapor Rub on nails for fungus or on feet for athletes foot. Cheaper than the normal creams or sprays. My manicurist swears by this for nail fungus, don't know about athletes ft. 4. Horse linament for pain and burning of neuropathy. The doc claims this is safe and can be bought in a feed or tac shop. 5. Painting the crater like sores with milk of magnesia ( it heals them quite well) that Frogga wrote about on her butt This is just something I picked up working as a nurse with geriatric patients. I hope some or all of you with any of these particular problems will try and see if they help.

I wanted to say hi to you. Some of you that I have known for so long on here I sometimes don't say anything to because you already know everything. LOL I just try and help the new ones at times because of not staying on long but I still know you guys are here. I was thinking of Dana this morning and was going to post a hi to her also.
These home remedies sound good. I have a 3 page list in my bathroom for everything going that I got off of the internet a few years back. I put the pages in plastic file slips so they don't get wet. You might want to do that. I also put makeup tips in plastic from magazines and post them in my bathroom so I won't forget them. I saw on TV last week where if you have shoes that have odor when you take them off to slip a fabric softener sheet into each one over night and it will soak up the odor. I remembered that because sometimes Dustin's tennis shoes will get an odor from wearing them. That bar of soap I had heard of before but I haven't tried it. I am going to try that one. Thanks for the good tips. Ada |

I just would mention that the liniment for animals may not be as pure as a similar product for humans.
If you consider using anything like that for your self -research it online first.

Hello again,
I thought these tips might be helpful as so many of us are bothered by cramping, arthritis, burning pain. The MOM was something I picked up after years of caring for the elderly. The elderly usually have bed sores form inactivity, pressure and poor nutrition. The one thing MOM does verses Neosporin or other vaseline type ointments is allow air to get to the wound. Ada, so sorry to hear of your loss I know you two were like 2 peas in a pod. It was nice of you to acknowledge my post. I don't post often but I do lurk alot. Emily's Grandma, so nice to hear from you. I wasn't sure you were home till I read your post about the weather. How was Florida? Was the tornado near your place? I will email you later today. Jo55, sorry if you thought the horse linament thing was inappropriate, just thought it wouldn't hurt to try it. But I wouldn't put it on open sores!!! Dr. Gott didn't feel it would hurt anyone. Frogga, The MOM only works if you can spend alot of time laying flat on your tummy! It does wash right off in the shower. I will PM you with some other thoughts. By the way you are very funny in case you didn't know it. I get on here when I am down and reading your posts brings a smile to my face and a chuckle to the rest of me. I have a question for anyone that might have the answer. Within the last 2 weeks I have started to have burning on my right instep (top of the foot) and on the toes of my left foot. My question is after almost 8 years with this darn RSD any idea why I am now starting to have the burning? Never had it before this. By the way no new injury. No meds either.

*Lobs a bunch of honey dressings at Lisa M's face......
honey dressings covered in infected green goo!!!!!!!!!! I thought you'd appreciate the description - hey, you're lucky I didn't send you a pic! (my carers take photos of it to show me because I like to know what's going on with my body.. (cos I'm reclined and tilted in my wheelchair it means that all I can see is the top of my chest and my knees....) *sprays the bottle of iodine over Lisa M* ......and laughs evilly whilst Lisa turns bright yellow and smells! anyway - how are your sores my dear? You;re probaly right - my chem mates and I had a long talk about whether we should use bleach to try and remove the infection - we were thinking if we diluted it down and then washed the sore out with it then that would get rid of all the infected tissue.. (but Becka, my current carer, has said that she will kill me if I let them try it.... apparently my life is hard enough without an amputated butt..... which is probaly true!) Chem possys - totally the best... we have worked out how to make a solution, which when painted on a surface, makes it explode *without structural damage* it's brill!!! Slightly concerned that the goo makes me more attractive!!... so that's why my possy is following my around!? Thanks for everyone that says I'm amusing-- I just find it's the only way to get on with life!! Barb - would be awesome if you have some ideas - I have now had this pressure sore for about 3 months and it's pretty impressively infected. I did have the nurses in every day to dress it and now my carers dress it 2 times a day - we use iodine, kalkostat ribbon, magnesium sulphate with honey dressings. I was on bedrest, but got bored, so now just go back to bed when it's too sore to cope sitting for another second.. also my poss just carry me around most of the time... but seriously - any ideas would be really welcome!! (woohoo! no more green goo!!) Love rosie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
