Default Bad Day--does this sound like RSD?

Since last night, I've been have bouts every 30 minutes where i feel like I'm freezing, then when i cover up the blanket starts to hurt on my legs, and my legs feel like they're on fire...and they itch so badly, but when I scratch it burns as well. Then there's the pain. I've been experiencing really bad pain in my knee, I don't know how to describe it other than i get these sharp shooting pains in it, similar to when I injured it initially. And my calf feels like its cramping, and has felt that way since last night. The other pain comes and goes every so often (45 minutes or so), and the feeling like my leg is on fire lasts for an hour, then goes away for a little while, then comes right back. And everything is stiff today, like I went to a gym or something yesterday...but I didn't do anything but relax yesterday!

I've had an episode a while back like this, but nowhere near this bad. Plus my hands are so swollen and achy I can't play guitar...I tried, but my fingers started tingling immediately, and go numb.
Does this sound like RSD? could my pain doctor and ortho be right? (they both suspect RSD)

Man this sucks.

I am really sorry you are not feeling well..Although you sound like you had some distinct symptoms of RSD..it would be best to find a Dr. who is knowledgeable with this illness... most times it can be a pain management, which I see you have, or an anestisologist.. or a neurologist..But pursue your care asap as with any condition time is of the essence..Look for us here for knowledge, tips and support as we are family here and care a great deal about eachother..SO talk to us..and please, do not use ice in treatment for you pain as it could make your symptoms much worse...

I wish you a restful night and better days ahead..

Kathy

tim,
I agree with KS.

It sounds exactly like RSD.

What happened to you? Injury?

You need some medication to get your life under control.
I'm a guitar player too, and jeez, I have a good regimen of medication, and it pains me to think about restringing it!
Are you near a city? (Usually better doctors)

Go to:

www.rsdsa.org

Lots of info, and a doctor finder as well!
PM me if you wish.
