I am writing on behalf of my daughter who has not yet been officially diagnosed with RSD, but doctors have hinted at it. Who diagnosed your RSD and also everywhere we read, we read about burning pain, although she has some burning pain hers is more of a stabbing nature. Could we have some input on this. Its been a long journey for her, she's only 25.
Thanks, Marlene |

Basically everyone is different as far as symptoms. So for example my and has a molted red color to it while others have the bluish color in effected areas.
What I have learned as times goes on ( I was dx last year) symptoms come and go as well. My fingers used to feel like ice cubes if you touched them...now they are generally not that cold. I personally have burning pain, shocking pains and crushing type pain which is the worst of the 3 most of the time.

Hi Marlene! So sorry about your daughter and the pain she is experiencing. I was 24 when first diagnosed and am now 46. I was initially diagnosed by a university hospital's pain clinic (anesthesiologist maybe?). When I had a new injury in 2009, which started the spread, that was diagnosed by a neurologist.
There are so many symptoms of RSD, and no two people are the same. Personally, I experience burning, sharp, shooting, stabbing pain... but it is not always burning and not always stabbing. Your daughter needs to get a correct diagnosis so she can be treated asap. The best chance of remission is early treatment. All the best, Nanc ![]() |

Thank you so much for your prompt replies. She has been ill since July of 2012 when she began experiencing severe pain in her chest arm and neck along with severe headaches. About 6 weeks prior to that she was in a car accident and only had a minor neck injury, that is the only thing we can think of that would have brought this all on.
Again thanks. Marlene |
