Question Question (RSD + Immune System)

I have often read that RSD involves both the nervous system and the immune system, but I have always been confused about the second. I don't often hear about people talking about how it effects their immune system and I don't really understand how it could. Does anyone have any information on this?

Hi Emily Rose, I do not have any data to back this up, just my personal experience. Because I am so constantly exhausted it seems like I just catch about anything or bug that seems to be making the rounds. The last two winters I have had bouts of pneumonia that have begun with just simple cases of bronchitis. It seems to take stronger and longer amounts of antibiotics to recover. I do get a flu shot every year, especially since I spend my days in college. I just seem to be all over weaker than I was pre RSD. I am sure you will get much better answers than mine soon. Lisa

wow, i would be very interested in hearing lots more feedback on this question. I wonder if it is why i feel so drained these days. It is all so strange to me even yet. It's been a journey the last 5 months that's for sure and an intensive detour right in front of me, so i just hope to gain some insight and make it through the next few weeks one step at a time. i will keeping checking this post for sure.

Thanks for the replies Lisa and Butterfly. Facts are good but personal symptoms are quite helpful too. I brought this up because it literally feels like I always have a mild touch of the cold. I also had bronchitis last winter, which is strange since before my RSD I hardly ever got sick. These days I suffer from shortness of breath and breathing problems with what sometimes feels like a burning chest. It's kinda scary since it may be caused by the RSD and all that it brings along.

There is no shortage of online sources that state immune system problems, but so far I am unable to find something that explains why there is that connection. I suppose the answer is obvious. They don't know what causes RSD so how would they know why it causes a weaker immune system?
