Default Pelvic Pain Block

I had a Superior Hypogastric Plexus block last week and got complete pain relief in my lower right abdomen for four hours. They go through the L5-S1 level. I believe the next step is getting it done again with phenol injected. Have a follow-up appointment on Monday.

This procedure is just to treat my burning, hot abdominal pain. I also have lower right hot, burning back pain.

Has anyone had this procedure and if so, what were your symptoms and results?

Default Hi,

I have thought about blocks for pelvic pain but just didn't do it. I did have surgery about 3 months ago where they went in and cut a nerve in my left pelvic area. It helped with the outside but not the inside.

I hope they work for you. I get triggerpoint injections and they help fine until they wear off. The weather change seems to trigger mine again and it seems to change here anymore more then I change clothes.

You might want to read up on Interstital Cystitis which some say is also RSD of the bladder. You might want to see a Urologist that specializes in IC.

Ada,

Much thanks for the interstitial cystitis info. I often have UTI symptoms but never have a UTI, get up constantly at night to urinate, can give a urine sample any time, and ended up in ER with abdomen pain. I see my pain specialist tomorrow so will ask about this.
