Default What do you take to battle the fatigue?

I am just so tired all day!

I sleep with a Cpac Machine ( and hate it)

I tried Provigel for many months, never helped
I take caffine pills throughout the day for when i must be awake
i tried the natural herb call Maca,,didnt work
I even tried a diet pill when trying to lose weight..still no energy
I even take 20mgrs of Prednisone a day..no energy

Has any of your doctors told you what it is about RSD that makes us SO tired?

I cant do any exercise because of herniated back discs and my entire abdomen is swollen..i cant do anything to raise my cardio. I do sit down exercise videos and lift small weights. there just has to be something to help with energy.

please tell me what you do or take
thank you
Lori

Good morning Lori,

If my memory serves me right, I think my RSD doc says Im so tired all the time because my body is in a constant state of alert (the flight or fight thingy) which makes sense but Im sure Im not using his correct words/terminology.

What I personally do when Im so tired: I take a walk, a slow one, but still a walk. and if that fails, I take a nap I know that may not be possible for you, especially if your at work, and I realize this post isnt very helpful, really just wanted to let you know Im listening. Feel better soon k, Dee

Thank you Dee

I didnt know that about the state of alert. That makes sense though, our bodies in constant stress. I cant walk very well at all. i have to walk bent over holding myself up on my walker with wheels. im a sight to be seen. I am hoping that if i have the ketermine infusion, maybe my body can relax a little and i could stand straight up and walk.

Thank you for listening Dee. I guess all the other peop-le that viewd this are also tired and looking for a way to get energy too.
Bless you
Lori

I agree,
With the body in a 'tense' mode constantly. I also have a tremor, since my tbi, and that is really what brought the tiredness to bear. If you think of your muscles in spasm, or tremor, that must take tremendous effort. I find that a cup of tea, and a valium, (seems odd) give me a decent days worth of energy. I think the valium 5mg, helps with the tremor, and spasm. I use a CPap also, and I hate it.
I also tried that 'Provigal', which just cranked my pain up.
Along with the spasms and tremor. I thought it was Satan's own drug!

Hope you get some relief!

Pete

I'mhaving a little less trouble with fatigue and I think it's by controlling what I do during the day. If I get tired I slow down or stop. Stopping frequently to assess my condition seems to catch the problem sooner.

Another thing I forgot to mention,, You've got to be sure that you're sleeping well, and the only real way to do that, is with a sleep test.
I'm prescribed a CPap machine. Which, unfortunately adds another set of problems. Some folks tolerate them better than others. But, if it helps, it's a winner!
There are other options, ask your doctor, and go to
ihatecpap.com

An interesting site on alternatives to CPap.

Be Well!

Hi Lori,

I used to get quite tired when I was on medications such as Lycria, topomax, Neurontrin and others I can't even remember all I used to take. That was all about 3 years ago before my last ketamine infusion. After my last one I just got off almost everything except for 1 pain med. and I'm hypo-thyroid so I take synthynroid, which has nothing to do with the RSD. I really think is was the gabapetine drugs that made me so tired. I remember driving and almost falling asleep I just could not keep my eyes open. So if you are taking any of that stuff maybe it's that.

I just started over the summer with not sleeping properly again. I don't know what this is all about but right now I have the worst sleep pattern. Example: Yesterday woke up a 5am, went to the gym with my daughter came back tried to clean 1 bathroom, watched some football, my husband cooked ate and by 7pm I could not keep my eyes open.. Fell asleep woke up at 1am up until 4am and now I'm up for the day since 5:45am. Also now my arm/shoulder is killing me because I tried to clean a bathroom. Very frustrating. I have to try and get out of this pattern any suggestions are welcomed.

Default Hi,

It could very well be the medication you are taking. Methadone makes me sleepy but if you are dealing with Cronic Fatigue Syndrome then that might have to calm down. I have the CFS and there doesn't seem to be anything for it so it's kind of like RSD, it has to go into remission. I have to take sleeping meds now to sleep. I do know the pain wears you down too.
