Default what are your thoughts on Liposuction

Hi everyone

I have told my story a few times but in summary i have abdominal RSD and have 70lbs of swelling on my abdomen as a result of 3 surgeries. My last surgery was in 2006 when a plastic surgeon thought if we cut of my swollen tissue maybe it would stay gone...well it came back double with many more health problems.

I was watching Dr OZ today and he was talking about Liposuction for "Muffin Tops" the rolls over top of a pair of jeans that mid aged women get that they cant get rid of. My swelling is much different BUT do do you think having fat cells sucked out would cause me harm like having surgery? Would the motion of the lipo hose thingy cause me more nerve damage? Just trying to think of ways to get rid of this very uncomfortable swelling. Lasix doesnt help or any type of diuretic. I cant risk getting more swelling...i can hardly walk as it is. I have to walk bent over leaning on a walker with wheels to push myself along. Because of herniated discs in my lower back and the pressure of the swelling i cant stand up straight. Im only 48 and there just has to be a way for me to be more comfortable and get rid of his swelling.
Sigh...so frustrating!
Thank you for reading and thinking about this with me.
Lori

For myself this would be a no but we are all different. I know for sure I would not have any type of surgery unless I had to. Even with that I would get multiple opinions to make sure there was no alternative. Even for people without rsd there can be complications with nerves in surgery. So add the rsd and how sensitive we are to me is too risky. What does your doctor say? Since this is swelling would it even help?

Thank you Daniella

I havent talked to my doctor yet...i thought i would ask every one here first. I know i would have to save up cash some how if i did it i dont think insurance would pay. I do agree with you though any kind of surgery could have serious side affects even if it did work.

i just hate being mostly stuck in bed with no way of reducing this swelling. im just frustrated. Thank you for your reply.

I can relate at being stuck in with pain. I think for myself though it is still important to choose procedures etc very carefully. I wonder if a med or another treatment such as ketamine for ex would help with the pain and swelling. Also get you moving. Hope you feel better

Default Thoughts about Liposuction

Lori, this is just a suggestion,or maybe you have already gone thru this? When I had a some what same type of problem, however not as bad as your's. I had six weeks of I.V. prednisone infusion's. My neurologist was the one who decided to give this a try.The reason it did not work for me was because no one took my B12 level before I began this! So it did not work for me. Maybe if they would have checked my B12,it might have worked? Hang in there! Love and Peace to you! Breezy55

Hi Breezy

You had swelling on your abdomen like me? just not as much? Please tell me your story. I havent really heard of anyone that is similar to my mess. Please share your journey if you dont mind. I never heard of prednione infusion. I use to ake it and it would keep the swelling down, then when i would have flare ups and swell more...if i tok alot more prednisone it would reduce my swelling...now it doesnt work...if i swell more i am usually stuck with it. I also take Imuran for the swelling...i try to come off it and when i do i swell more and must take it again to stop it and reduce whatever i have gained.

blessings
Lori
