Annick, on the other side of the state where we have hills it's snowing and blowing and drifting. The highways are closed and they are checking stranded vehicles to make sure nobody's still in them. Brrrr I hate winter

I agree, I hate winter too. We got snow last night. For a week we had fairly decent weather except for the strong winds and then last night the snow came. We are suppose to get more tomorrow. This has been going on in CO. for over 3 months. It's been a horrible winter.
As much snow as we got though, the water company is still saying we are going to be in a drought this year. I don't get that one. Ada |
short explanation on the water situation. It's dependent on the amount of snow you get up in the mountains, and how quickly this snow melts. Normally you guys get a whole lot more snow in the winter. This also affects western NE. Right now it's not looking too good from what I have read

:) Hello from Australia where we are in severe drought with water restrictions.
I presume when you talk about your temperature over there you are talking in Farenheit? Since Christmas Day 2006 we have had only one day that has been less than 20 degrees celcius (I think that is 70 F) and that is the overnight temperature. Most days are between 25 and 42 degrees celcius:eek: Airconditioner goes flat out and the drought ensures that are gardens are dying. Staying inside is the only option and listening to the kids playing in the pool outside with me not being able to join them is very hard!! Would I swap for snow and rain?? I don't really know? The extremes of BOTH heat and cold stink. I would be more than happy for a 25 degree day and rain overnight, that is my bliss! (That is 25 deg celcius) Cheers all Tayla |

Getting ready to travel east to Hastings to the Dr. in the morning. We are hoping that we won't run into any ice and snow. We had a cold front move in tonight and it is in the teen's to night. Hopefully, with this new dr. I will feel like their treating the whole person. Annick |

Where do you live? I was wondering if it is in Co. Can't remember. I was going to say the mountains around here got 5 feet of snow at times and it just kept coming since Nov. for them as well as us.
We have had more snow this year then in a long long time but I know in this area we were on our way out of the drought anyway. We weren't being rationed last year as it has been the 3 years before. That's what makes me think it's a money thing around here rather then a water shortage. The water company here actually bought water from somewhere else also. I think all of Colorado got more snow this year then they have had in the past 5 or 6 years prior. I'm glad we got it but it's sure been a long run of it. We are suppose to get more this evening. The winds have been the worst we have seen in a long time also. We always get winds but not like we have been having lately. I can't wait for summer but I'm betting it will be a hot one like we had about 3 years ago. Ada |

I'm from Nebraska, on the southeastern edge. South of Omaha, east of Lincoln. We have water issues here too. In dry years we get put on restriction. I try to save rain water for the inside plants and the potted ones outside, it's better for them anyway.
Ours comes from wells to the water treatment plant, and then piped to us in the country. There's a lot of chlorine in it and I can't stand that, for some reason it adds to the migraines. The county came and plowed through our snow drift, so we can at least get out today. Hubby had to go cross country with the 4 wheeler yesterday to get to his cows. The wind is pretty nasty, and it's only 30 degrees today. I guess I'll stay inside. Just another day in the country. Hugs and Prayers. |
You are out in the country huh? I have to laugh when you talk about catchin rain water. Here in Co. we don't get enough rain to fill a bucket much less a barrel.
I grew up in Ky. and Mom caught rainwater to do laundry, take baths and do everything else it would do. We had to walk about a half mile to get our drinking water from a well. So I can relate. I love that picture of the deer. That's one of the things I love about here is taking a drive and seeing so many deer, elk and bear. Ada |
I took that picture a couple of years ago. It was born in the cemetery near us and stayed for a while. Not easy sneaking up on a fawn.
Thank goodness we don't have bear! Everyone panics and runs when they hear rumors about mountain lions. I can't imagine what they would do if they saw a bear. We have lots of wildlife around here, and I enjoy taking pictures. Can't do a whole lot of things anymore, but I can take pictures. Hope you are having a great day today. Hugs and Prayers |
LOL! ICY! Obviously...since I hit a freaking POLE AND SIGN this morning. LOL! GRRRRRRR! They do say March comes in like a Lion and goes out like a Lamb. I used to think Lions were pretty cool. But I think I like Lambs better now....
