I have found that often times when I get sick with a cold or flu my RSD pain decreases significantly during the sickness then comes back with a vengeance once I get over it. I have also read that people who get pregnant and have RSD see their symptoms decrease during pregnancy.
Has anyone else had a similar response when you get sick? |

LFP,
I think pain can be relavant. I remember a time, when a flu would take 'over' the RSD, but that was long ago. (I haven't had a flu for years, also).. Suffering is just that. Our minds can be diverted. I have never been pregnant, that I'm aware of. But, I did take note that the McGill pain index rates RSD higher than childbirth, (in pain)..... If I do remember correctly. Could it be the 'good feelings' associated with pregnancy, or hormones? I'm aware of that 'Glow' of pregnancy! I've witnessed childbirth twice. That's GOT to hurt! But, after it's over, you have a wonderful little package of love.... When we get done hurting with RSD, we get to look forward to the next flare. I hope you're well! Pete asb |

I guess this is pretty common. The sicker you get the less the RSD but it seems to depend on exactly what kind of sick. Diverticulitis is a diversion and it seems even moreso on antibiotics.

That is so interesting that you mention that. Actually when I first got RSD back when I was 19, I had the same reaction you do now. My RSD would get worse when I was sick. Then I went into remission and I injured myself again a couple years ago and the RSD came back. Now when I get sick the exact opposite happens. I just got over a cold 3 weeks ago and my RSD flared up really bad. Now I'm sick again with another cold and my RSD symptoms are back down. I'm just worried about what is going to happen when the cold goes away. I don't think I can handle another 3 week flare up. |

love family pets,
I gotta ask this, Why is it that you're getting so many colds? I get some stuffy nose sort of things, and have Allegra for that, because of my C-pap machine. Are you getting good nourishment, and getting some vitamins? Are you around contagious people, the public, children in school, etc.? I'm sure that you're aware that RSD can sometimes mimic the pain a flu will bring, in a way. And, whatever hurts worst, is what we feel. For instance, if I get a real knife in the eye sort of migraine, I'm not so concerned about my feet pain. Hope you're well! Pete asb |

thats because your autonomic and sympathetic systems have been comprised over a long period of time. We are considered a health risk patient. Take that into effect when asked if you have any health risks.
Only well educated physicians in anatomy & physiology will recognize & understand

My first cold I think I got from a friend and the second one I got from either my sister or cousin (both of which were sick with a cold). I do take vitamins. Personally, I would take a head cold any day over my RSD pain. Sorry to hear you get migraines. I hope you were able to stay well during the holidays! |
